Editor Hello Fellow German Car Enthusiasts ! Tom Stein Well, yet another month has passed and 12456 Roesta Ln. we are on to more Racing and DE events as you will notice in this issue. I suppose summer is a busy time for everyone as I myself am having extreme difficulty finding time to sit in front of the Membership PC and author the newsletter, which is why it is Tom & Ginny Barry arriving so late this time. IRAC I Autocross Results MOR Drivers Win 4 Classes

Sunshine and temperatures in the 60s greeted 34 drivers at the first IRAC autocross event of the year at Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia. IRAC I, hosted by the Ohio Valley Region (OVR) on May 4th, featured several fast sweeping turns that took advantage of Kil-Kare’s crossing infield section and banked oval. Each driver com- pleted six runs.

Nine MOR drivers participated in the event with four taking first place in their class (Jim Rybak in P2, Dave Wenger in P3, Jeff Dupler in P4, and Mike Tepley in P7). Mark Onosko finished third in the M-Class, which was also the third fastest time of the day for all drivers. Special mention goes out to Cindy Onosko, Mark’s wife, who participated in her first autocross event and who is expected to be running times close to Mark’s times before too long. Congratulations to all MOR drivers.

IRAC II is scheduled for Sunday, June 1 at the OSU parking lots at Ackerman and SR 315. As the host Region, we hope that MOR drivers will show up in force to extend the success that MOR achieved at IRAC I. Don’t forget, each participant will receive a raffle ticket for an end-of-the-season drawing for a set of four (4) tires.

For more details, see the event announcement on page 20 of the May 2008 Die Offene Strasse or contact either Jeff Dupler ([email protected]) or Dave Wenger ([email protected]).

5 MORPCA Monthly Board Meeting May 7, 2008

Submitted by Betsy MacDonell, Secretary

Members in Attendance: Dave Hayden, Ginny Barry, Dick Snyder, Mike Stoner, Gerhard Hillmann, Marsha Hayden, Betsy MacDonell, Ron Carr, Jay Koehler, Karen Koehler, Brian Peterson, Bob Balchick, Doug Mansfield, and Milton Scott,

The meeting was held at the King Avenue Five Sports Lounge and started at 7:07pm. A motion was made by Mike and Gerhard to dispense with reading of the minutes and to adopt them as printed in the April 2008 DOS.

Correspondence Department: Dave received notice from Roy Wilkinson, PCA Zone 4 Representative, that he is interested in running for the PCA Secretary position and will need everyone in the club to write in his name on the ballot for that position. Dave circulated some information about the upcoming PCA Escape event in New Mexico. Dave also wondered if the club could have plastic name badges for members, similar to the board name badges, to be used at large events with lots of regions present. Karen Koehler volunteered that the School for the Blind has the ability and machine to make them for us (for a fee). She will follow up with details. Dave also passed around a copy of an e-mail that the BMW club sent to him about an upcoming wine tasting event.

Club Race News was reported by Dave and Jay because John could not be at the meeting. John was able to secure the insurance for the event. The track schedule was approved by National PCA. As of May 7th, the Sprint race has 107 entrants; the Endro has 91 with 7 co-drivers. The enrollment numbers are less than expected and there are several ideas as to why. Some of the reasons may be the rising gas prices and the change back to a two day event. There will be a lot of topics, including incentives and penalties for timely payments, to discuss at the Club Race wrap up and planning meeting. Driver’s Education event has 92 people signed up so far but the target was 110. The Putman Park DE event opened online on May 1st and has 3 signed up to date.

John Peecook and Rick Snyder would like to offer a Driver’s Education event for instructors sometime this year. There are a number of people that need to be certified through this type of program in order to be instructors at a PCA event. This type of event would either require renting a day at the track or have it during a scheduled DE event. The board felt that it would be too expensive for the club to cover this year and that the event should be planned to coincide with an existing DE event next year.

News from the IRAC scene comes from Jim Rybeck via Dave. Jim says the timing equipment is in sad shape. He is sending some back to the manufacturer to have it changed from wireless to hard wired. The pylons have arrived and the stencil looks best done vertically.

Treasurer Mike Stoner wants to pull the advertising space from two companies that have not paid yet. He plans to call them one more time before notifying Tom Stein, DOS Editor. Mike characterized the financial situation of the club as “near break even”. The Club Race event looks like it will break even at best. This financial situation may put some of the Club’s charitable contributions at risk. The IRS is now requiring all board members of a non-profit organization to file a 9090 form. This form covers conflict of interest issues. Mike and Dave will handle the filing of the form. Continued on page 7 6 June 2008

Membership Queen Ginny Barry reports a loss of 11 members with an addition of 2 new members. She notes that this is a normal fluctuation to the membership. Ginny and Tom hosted a membership table at Byers Imports Service Clinic on May 4th and spoke with several new potential members. The Clinic was a quality event that every member should try to attend in the future. The dealership gave away great door prizes and had lunch for all in addition to checking on the Porsches.

Newsletter news was handled by Dave because Tom had to see Van Halen one more time! Tom is concerned about the late submittals to the newsletter which makes his job difficult to finish and deliver to the printers. He wants to publish a quality product and need everyone to submit copy ready material to him on a timely basis. To that end, Tom is asking for someone to proofread his almost final version to catch the errors that slip by his eagle eye. Please e-mail him if interested.

Social King Gerhard Hillmann would like to clarify his title and responsibilities. Dave captured it best with “everything outside Club Race and Drivers Education that involves the membership”. So it could be called Activities Chairman in the future. Meanwhile, Gerhard reported a quality time and turnout for the Wine Tasting at Hausfrau Haven. The event ended with a small shortfall, but a good time was had by all. The next activity to report was the Drive and Dine to the Hocking Hills. This action oriented event was attended by 30 people with 18 cars and the pack broke into 3 distinct speed groups for the drive. The calendar is pretty well set for the remainder of the year with the additional event on August 9th for a margaritaville party. Apparently someone approached Gerhard and asked if 914s were recognized within the club. The answer is certainly. Ginny volun- teered to compile the membership data for 914 owners or any other specific model for Gerhard so he can target an event for these members if so desired. A Porsche Parade Express and Tail of the Dragon event is coming up June 28 through July 1st. Watch the web and newsletter for details.

Web Meister Brian Peterson was extremely pleased to announce that Byers Imports has agreed to sponsor the web site. Kevin King, General Manager, really liked the concept and how it looked and especially the links back to the dealership. Kevin also indicated that his dealership would like to work together with the club on other events in the future. Brian cautioned the board to be judicious in asking for assistance from them. A big car care manufacturer is currently thinking about sponsoring the technical care section of the web site, so watch for developments. Brian asks for submittals to the Meet the Members section of the website. He has already posted photos of the Hocking Hill Drive. The web site could be used to promote future events if he gets some good photos and copy.

Milton Scott has graciously agreed to take over the Concours position from Brice Kadel. He reports that there will be another Taj Ma Garaj event to John Dixon’s collection on May 10th. The Vintage Race at Mid Ohio is happening on June 27 to 29 and the Austin Healy Sprite is the featured marque. On Sunday, there will be an infield low key type concours for cars including Porsches. The weekend pass is $45 with VIP hospitality for $15 per day. He will post details to the website and newsletter. The Arthritis Foundation Car Show will be on July 11 and 12th. The organizers have added some classes to spread out the entrants. The event is looking for a trophy sponsor. Milton acknowledged that an additional planning meeting will be necessary to assess the involvement of the club within the event.

Continued on page 8 7 MORPCA Board meeting minutes continued from page 7

Dave Hayden shared some of the information gleaned from the Zone 4 Meeting in March. PCA will be very strict with the new harness standard. Rick Snyder has incorporated it within the Club Race and DE literature so the entrants to our event are aware of it. If the car has a “Tripp” device it appears to meet the intent of the standard. The medical form will continue to just require the essential contact information and basic medical information.

ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION

Milton asked about the Floyd Action Award. Dave will fill him in on the details.

The meeting adjourned at 9:24pm. Jay made a motion to adjourn and Gerhard seconded the motion. The next meeting will be held at King Avenue Five on Wednesday, June 4th at 7pm. Meet there at or around 6pm for dinner and additional fun.

13 Porsche Parade Express

And Tail of the Dragon

Saturday June 28th – July 1st

No time, money or vacation days for a full week of Porsche Parade in Charlotte this year?

Gerhard Hillmann, our intrepid activities chairman, is putting together a four day road trip full of fun and adventure to this year’s Porsche Parade in Charlotte, North Carolina.

We will be departing central Ohio at 8:00am on Saturday morning and taking the scenic route through beautiful southern Ohio to pick up I-77 in West Virginia. Traveling the winding interstate at speed through the mountains and tunnels of West Virginia is some of the best interstate driving east of the Mississippi. We will stop along the way for lunch and scenic points of interest and should arrive in Charlotte in time for happy hour. A group of Carolina Region PCA folks will meet us for drinks and conversation at one of the local watering holes.

Stay at the Downtown Charlotte Westin, the Howard Johnson or, do as you did in college and sleep in your car. The trip is what you decide to make it.

Sunday we will spend the day on the streets of downtown Charlotte, enjoying the widest array of Porsches you may ever see, at the concours d’elegance.

Monday morning we head west on the Blue Ridge Parkway on our way to the legendary, “Tail of the Dragon” in Deal’s Gap Tennessee and overnightat the Tapoco Lodge. www.tapocolodge.com

We will depart the next day after our Tuesday morning drive and be home in the early afternoon to regale our friends and family with tales of how we slayed (or were slain) by the Dragon and of all the wonderful cars and adventures we had seen.

If you are interested, contact Gerhard Hillmann or Mike Stoner for more information. [email protected]

By: Catherine Bonfiglio, Communications Chair

Please check your email regarding your tour day and to reconfirm participation.

Parade Banquets If you’re attending a Parade banquet, they will be held at the Charlotte Convention Center, directly across the street from the host hotel, the Westin. Please be advised that the bars at the convention center are cash only. They will not accept credit cards or room-charges. Bottles of wine will be available for purchase at the Concours and Victory banquets. Participants can use cash or credit cards to purchase bottles of wine at either banquet.

When in doubt, check the website For any information and updates regarding the Charlotte Parade, please check the website at www.paradecharlotte.org. There you’ll find the latest Parade information as we count down to Parade. Your friends in the Carolinas region continue to work diligently to put on a spectacular event and one of the best Parades ever!

Attention in the Paddock! If you are participating in the Porsche Paddock on Sunday, June 29, but are not registered for the Parade, Bill Dunster, the Parade Paddock Chairman, needs to hear from you. There are over 500 (count ‘em 500) registered for the paddock. Also, there appears to be plenty of room if you want to be a part of either the 914 reunion or 356 registry. The 914 and 356 groups will be at the center of activity on the concours site. If you’re a paddock participant, you should plan to be up and out early Sunday morning in order for cars to be staged in the designated paddock area for each model.

Please email Bill at [email protected] tp confirm your participation. Once he hears from you, Bill will email you with paddock details.

Leave it to the “Locals” Soon to appear on the Parade website, and as part of your Welcome Packet will be the Locals Guide to the Charlotte region. This is no Chamber of Commerce publication, but rather a listing of the favorite bars, restaurants and recreational haunts as personally suggested by your friends in the Metrolina Chapter of PCA, who call the Charlotte region home. And in addition to drinks, eats, and visual treats, the packet will contain details regarding the special operating hours and services available from our local Porsche dealer and independent shop.

Welcome to Charlotte!

15 2008 Arthritis Foundation Classic Auto Show July 11 & 12, 2008

The Central Ohio Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation invites Porsche drivers to join them for the 26th Annual Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In which will feature Porsche on its 60th Anniversary, General Motors on its 100th Anniversary, and the Model A Ford on its 80th Anniversary. This is central Ohio’s premier car-related event – attracting more than two thousand display vehicles each year. This unique Dublin setting is perfect for a car show – with Porsche having Saturday’s prime parking area in the grass, under the trees by the pond. The Arthritis Foundation Show is being promoted as a multi-region Porsche Club of America event and thus we hope to have numerous entries from surrounding Regions.

The celebration kicks off on Friday, July 11th with a Cruise-In, which has become the largest event of its kind in Ohio. More than 2,000 street rods, muscle cars, vintage cars, European exotics and other cruisers from the 1920s to the present will make their appearance. 25-years of tradition will continue with a presentation of awesome 6-foot-high trophies to the Top Cruise-In cars. In honor of the show’s Silver Anniversary, 100 of these trophies will be presented to the best of the best. A huge variety of terrific food will be available at the concession stands, so plan to come early and spend the entire day with your family and friends, enjoying a live concert featuring the British Invasion in the evening!

On Saturday, July 12th, you’ll have a full day at the exciting Classic Auto, with more than 45 judged classes of automobiles on display, special Show-Within-A-Show groups and several regional events taking place. Many fabulous Indy Pace Car examples will be displayed, includ- ing rarely seen cars from the Bob McDorman collection. Rock ‘N’ Roll Oldies will spin all day long, followed by a fantastic live concert by Phil Dirt & The Dozers in the evening, including a dance floor in front of the stage!

A special display of automobiles, which are more than 25 years old and owned by their original owners, will be another unique attraction. If you have an automobile that fits in this category, please contact us so that we can arrange for you to participate in this unusual event.

On Saturday the gates open at 7:30 a.m., a participants’ meeting is at 11:30, with judging begin- ning at noon. Judging rules will be the same as in the past few years. We will have a total of 8 Porsche classes (listed on the registration form). Keeping this the ‘user-friendly’ event it has been; engine compartments, undercarriages, and wheel wells will not be judged. Originality is also not considered in the scoring. If you wash your car and vacuum the interior, you’re ready to enter!

Continued on page 17 16 June 2008

The Parade of Champions starts at 4:30 p.m. The Best of Show Porsche along with the 1st Place winner from each of the 8 classes will drive in front of the show stage to receive their award while the two Award of Excellence winners for each class are announced and invited to walk up to receive their awards. Also presented at that time will be the Floyd Acton Award — given annually to a MORPCA member who best exemplifies the spirit of PCA and the friendships it creates. Last year’s winners Rob & Brenda Ellis will be given a ‘keeper trophy’ as they pass the real one onto the 2008 recipient.

Contact Milton Scott at 937.335.9700 or Andy Trux at [email protected] for further informa- tion. Visit www.arthritisautoshow.com to see some great pictures of past years’ Arthritis Founda- tion Car Shows.

We invite all of our Porsche drivers, including those not actively participating in the show, to come out to the Dublin Metro Center to enjoy plenty of lawn parking in the shade, great eats and the wonderful fellowship that is always the hallmark of the Arthritis Foundation’s Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In. We look forward to celebrating Porsche’s 60th Anniversary with you!

19 Mid-Ohio Region Presents Driver Education at Putnam Park Road Course July 12 & 13, 2008

Mid-Ohio Region is hosting its annual driver’s education event at Putnam Park Road Course in Mt. Meridian, Indiana. Putnam Park was built in 1991 and the Mid-Ohio Region PCA was one of the first groups to utilize this excellent circuit for high performance drivers education. The track is a 1.8-mile long, ten-turn road course with an excellent layout. The entire circuit can be seen from the pit area. It is a favorite of professional racing teams doing their testing and of club racers alike. Because the track is relatively flat, has high visibility, with plenty of run off room, it makes for a terrific place to begin your high performance driving experience. Putnam Park is great for experienced drivers as well and offers positive and negative camber corners, several high- speed corners, and a downhill main straight.

Putnam Park is an easy drive, 40 miles west of Indianapolis, just off I-70 near Cloverdale. This event has proven to be great for driving and for sharing with old and new friends.

All drivers will have an instructor riding with them on-track until the driver is comfortable with the course and their car. There will be four run groups to better match students of similar abilities in the same session. Run Group A will be for very experienced drivers in higher performance cars. Group B will be for experienced drivers new to Putnam Park or driving medium performance cars. Group C will be for student drivers with some experience, and Group D will be for student drivers with little or no experience. There will also be scheduled classroom sessions to discuss several aspects of high performance driving with plenty of time for question and answers. This is an excellent time to learn more about your car and enhance your driving skills. Become comfortable driving your car near the limit, which will improve your overall driving ability both on and off the track.

Event headquarters will be the Holiday Inn Express (765-795-5050) at I-70 and U.S. 231, Cloverdale, Indiana. Rooms are being held under Mid-Ohio Porsche Club at a special rate ($75 + tax). This relatively new motel has an indoor pool and lighted parking with night time security patrol. Other lodging possibilities are the Days Inn (765-795-6400), Briana Inn (765-795-3000), Quality Inn (765-795-3500), and Dollar Inn (765-795- 6900).

There will be a buffet dinner Saturday evening at the headquarters hotel (Holiday Inn Express). No need to clean-up or dress-up. Just roll into the hotel lobby where frosty cold beverages will be waiting along with a buffet. One dinner is included with each registration. Extra dinners are $20. Your reservation must be received by June 27th.

Registration Information: Entry fee: $275 per person. Fill out the Registration Form on the following page and mail with payment to: Putnam Park Registrar, 7392 Preston Road NE, Newark, Ohio (740) 745-2034, email: [email protected]. 25 HORSEPOWER FOR HISTORY CONCOURS D’ ELEGANCE August 16 2008 Tiffin, Ohio By Brice Kadel

Mid-Ohio Region Porsche Club member Casey Putsch is the Creator and Director of the inaugural HORSEPOWER FOR HISTORY CONCOURS D’ ELEGANCE to be held at Hedges Boyer Park in Tiffin, Ohio on Saturday August 16th from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. This scenic park boasts 50 – 100 year old shade trees; and is nestled along the banks of a wandering stream.

The HORSEPOWER FOR HISTORY Concours was conceived from the idea of using peoples’ love for the world’s cars for the last one hundred years to benefit the preservation of our American history and historic sites. All proceeds benefit the Tiffin Historic Trust (non-profit, 501c3). The event is open to all European sports and exotics, all pre-war vehicles, any road racing cars, and American sports cars (by invitation only).

Designed as a ‘car party in the park with the structure of a concours’, this is an evening that is going to be great fun for the entire family just as much as for the ‘car nut’. After the awards ceremony, you may choose to spend the remainder of the evening in leisure at the park or you can elect to be part of an historic vehicle parade. As a new twist on the “Concours d’ Elegance’, a police escort will guide a caravan of show cars lead by the award winners on a tour from the show field, through historic down- town Tiffin, and back to the park.

Antique “Tiffin” crystal and glass will be given as awards in this judged show. The Tiffin Glass Mu- seum will be on the grounds to display and promote Tiffin’s fine glass history. Reino’s Italian Restaurant will serve food and drinks. As a third generation family restaurant, Reino’s is a local favorite. Providing your favorite music from the last forty years will be the Denny Gruss Band. Additionally, there will be numerous automotive displays at the Park.

On Sunday, there will be a driving tour that requires pre-registration to participate. The cars will meet in front of the Seneca County Historical Museum where a light breakfast will be available outside. The Museum will be open to tour participants only. Following a police escort, the tour will travel through Tiffin and onto the country roads of scenic Seneca County. There will be a break halfway through at an 1800’s Indian Mill in a shaded park along a river. The tour ends at Seneca Hills Golf Course with lunch there in their “turn of the century” banquet facility.

The cost for the Concours is $15 per car in advance and $20 the day of the show, and the cost for the tour is $16 for the driver and $10 for each additional person in the car (which includes breakfast and lunch).

33 U.S., CANADIAN TEAMS GEAR UP FOR ’08 TRANSSYBERIA RALLY

PORSCHE’S U. S. TRANSSYBERIA RALLY TEAM COMBINES YOUTH AND EXPERIENCE AS IT ATTEMPTS TO CONQUER THE WORLD TOUGHEST RALLY

ATLANTA, May 7, 2008 — When Rod Millen’s schedule would not allow him to defend his title as the winner of the 2007 TransSyberia Rally, he was asked who he would recommend to take over his seat in his Porsche TransSyberia Cayenne S.

“When Porsche came to me and asked me to recommend someone, to lead Team USA in my stead, it took me a while, but in the end, I couldn’t think of anyone better suited than Ryan,” said the legendary rally and Pike’s Peak Hill climb champion.

For someone that is only 23 years old, Ryan Millen already has a very impressive resume. At the tender age of just 18, Millen competed in his first and in the five years that followed, moved from off-road buggies into heavier, more powerful stock vehicles; in 2008, he will compete in his sixth. Ryan has pre-run the Baja course at least a half a dozen times more, honing his off-road skills. For 2007, Ryan won a convincing class victory at New Zealand’s toughest off-road event, the Taupo 1000. “I grew up in a motorsports family,” says Millen. “Even when I was a kid, it was natural to be around racing cars and I grew up going fast. But my decision to go racing was not made by anybody else. I enjoyed playing in the dirt all my life and racing off-road seemed like a natural extension of that.”

How much advice did his father give him about the rally itself? “I sat down with my dad multiple times” he says. “He told me about the bigger stuff like the overall strategy, day-by-day tactics and what to expect from the terrain, but some of the most important information was the small stuff. Things like how to get fuel, food or water in . That kind of stuff.”

With the cancellation of the Paris-Dakar Rally, the TransSyberia Rally, called by the elder Millen “the toughest thing I’d ever done”, moves to the forefront as the most physically grueling and mechanically challenging competitions of this or any year. This year’s 4,347-mile route will traverse the Ural Mountains, wind through the pristine sub-arctic forests of Siberia, up to the rugged peaks of the Altai Mountains and continue across the sprawling, barren Mongolian plains and on through the legendary Gobi Desert, prior to reaching the finish line in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia. Continued on page 37 34 June 2008

35 36 June 2008 Continued from page 34

“Ryan is young, but he is mature as a driver on long-distance, endurance- type events. He’s done the Baja 1000 five times and has competed in several other U.S. off-road events; his knowledge in termsof reading the terrain, taking care of the equipment and getting to the finish is second-to-none,” added the proud father.

Millen’s background and diverse range of interests make him a formidable competitor. In addition to his racing experience, he’s an engineer, working at the family business, Millen Works, on a variety of military projects. Perhaps more importantly, he has a natural affinity for the wilderness, enjoying all manner of outdoor pursuits, including mountain biking. I just love being outdoors, he says. In the summer, I crave adventure.”

Co-driving for Millen will be Colin Godby, a mechanical engineer as well as a longtime friend. “Colin and I are a good match,” Millen says, “We’re both outdoorsy and we’re used to dealing with adversity and difficulty in the wilderness. We drove together in the Baja 1000 and he’s an intelligent guy.”

“Events like TransSyberia are the ones to do with your friends,” says Rod Millen, who drove with Richard Kelsey in the 2007 event. “We’d driven Baja together, so we knew we worked as a team. But more important than that, it was important that we had a really good time. We’ve all been confined in a small space with someone we didn’t like to be around before; but not for 15 days!”

The U. S. squad will be paired with Team Canada as the North American entry in this year’s TransSyberia Rally. Team leader Kees Nierop is once again joined by Co-Driver Laurance Yap who are both going back to the TransSyberia with something to prove, having had a harrowing end- over-end crash in last year’s rally, effectively writing off their 2007 Cayenne S TransSyberia in the process.

39 2009 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S press release from PCNA

***

Hottest Cayenne ever will debut in the U.S. and Canada in August

The new 2009 Cayenne Turbo S is Porsche’s response to the enormous demand, especially in the emerging markets of Eastern Europe and Asia, for premium brand vehicles with exclusive heritage and performance. With a 4.8 liter twin turbocharged V8 engine that delivers 550 hp, this latest Porsche SUV is the most powerful Cayenne ever produced. Remarkably, even with a 10% horsepower increase over the Cayenne Turbo, the new Cayenne Turbo S shares the identical mileage figures (based on European Operating Cycle).

The new Cayenne Turbo S is instantly recognizable with its 21 inch alloy wheels that are housed in wheel arches painted to match the exterior color, and dual-twin sports tailpipes in brushed aluminum. Additionally, the air intake grilles and wheel arch extensions are painted the same color as the Cayenne’s body. Lava Gray Metallic, a new color that is rich yet understated, will be offered as an exclusive option for the Cayenne Turbo S.

The Cayenne Turbo S comes standard with air suspension, self-leveling and ride-height control, along with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM). This technology combined with the standard Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) and Servotronic speed- sensitive variable power steering allows the driver to enjoy the additional horsepower while still being rewarded with the handling and performance characteristics that you can only find in a Porsche SUV.

The Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system currently offered only on sports cars will be available on all 2009 Cayenne S, GTS, Turbo and Turbo S models in conjunction with 20’’ or larger wheels. PCCB braking power is provided by six piston calipers applied to 16.4 inch ceramic discs in the front and four piston calipers and 14.56 inch discs in the rear.

As should be expected, the standard interior of the top-of-the range Turbo S is equipped with high-end features such as sport seats with memory, carbon trim on the dashboard and door, leather interior in exclusive color combinations (Black/Havanna and Black/Steel Grey), plus a leather steering wheel with padded rim.

The Turbo S will be available in the in August and pricing will be announced in the near future.

M.O.R.P.C.A. Monthly Activity Saturday Morning Breakfast Club and Sunday Brunch Bunch

Every month, the Mid-Ohio region Porsche club will hold an informal gathering to discuss club related topics and just enjoy each others company. The gatherings will include a Saturday morning Breakfast club and a Sunday Brunch Bunch. We will meet at a local restaurant where coffee and food would be paid for by each member individually or perhaps a member would like to host a meeting at their place. Saturday morning Breakfast club will meet roughly every third Saturday of odd months. Sunday Brunch Bunch will meet roughly every second Sunday at 1:00pm, on even months. I realize this sounds horribly confusing but the dates would work out like this:

Date Topic Facilitator Location June 8th Sun @ 1:00pm T.B.D. T.B.D. T.B.D. July 19th Sat @ 8:30am T.B.D. T.B.D. T.B.D. August 10th Sun @ 1:00pm T.B.D. T.B.D. T.B.D. Sept 20th Sat @ 8:30am T.B.D. T.B.D. T.B.D. Oct 12th Sun @ 1:00pm T.B.D. T.B.D. T.B.D. Nov 15th Sat @ 8:30am T.B.D. T.B.D. T.B.D. Dec. on Holiday

Regular attendance is not required; this is just a casual gathering of members. Each month a member volunteer would facilitate a discussion of a particular topic. The topic could be anything and more than one topic could be discussed at any given event. Topics might include club activities, the latest Porsche model, or Buckeye football. Absolutely no religion or politics. Members might decide to go look at Pcars at a local dealership afterward or just drive around.

Please r.s.v.p. to Gerhard Hillmann at [email protected] if you can attend the first meeting. I would like to get an idea of how many members would be interested in an occasional informal gathering. Please let me know if you would be willing to facilitate a meeting, and I will plug you into the schelule.
