Spanish dancing sensation Joaquin Cortes plays his first major dramatic role in this story about a musician who is struggling to put personal misfortune behind him. Andres (Cortes) is a flamenco singer who has just gotten out of prison after being falsely convicted of the murder of Romero (Antonio Carmona), a member of his band. As Andres tries to reacclimate himself to freedom, he discovers things have not been going his way while he was up the river; his wife Lucia (Laetitia Casta) is having an affair with another man, while his bullying father Isidoro (Manuel de Blas) is obsessed with getting revenge against Don Manuel, who rules a local crime syndicate known as the Junco Family. Word on the street has it that members of the Junco Family killed Romero while he was defending Andres in a fight; Don Manuel is also the father of Lucia, as well as Lola (Marta Belaustegui), the wife of another of Andres' bandmates, El Peque (Gines Garcia Millan), who wants Andres to put his problems behind him and get back on the road. Andres is eager to get his career going again, but he discovers Chino (Jose Manuel Lorenzo), a cop on the take, has been following him, with record company bigwig Manfredi (Juan Fernandez) paying him to dig up dirt on the flamenco. As well as introducing Joaquin Cortes, Gitano features French supermodel Laetitia Casta in her second acting role; her voice was dubbed into Spanish by actress Ana Fernandez.

On the same day in which Bebo Valdés and Diego El Cigala collected a platinum record for 'Lágrimas Negras', they presented 'Blanco y Negro'. La Leyenda del Tiempo, movie of Isaki Lacuesta, shows again the interest of the Catalan artist in searching new paths and a certain daring when he describes the topics that interest him. La Leyenda del Tiempo is divided in two parts, linked to each other by the central topic, the influence of Camarón de la Isla, although there is an unfortunate imbalance in the duration. The first part, 'La voz de Isra', is much more intense and well-balanced than the next, 'La voz de Makiko', that looks more like a streched short. Isra is a young Andalusian born right after the death of the singer, who admires him and who would like to imitate him, although the roots of his life make it impossible. Makiko is a Japanese immigrant who would like to sing like the master and for this, manages to contact Camaron's brother. It seems that Lacuesta shot lot of material in a documentary format, making the main characters performing themselves. Then he addes some material of fiction providing the rest of the story with a concrete but artificial direction. The result adds irregularity to the experiment but deos not damage the whole. The most interesant thing of the movie is, besides its coincidence in the time with the movie 'Camaron' of Chavarri, the correct performances of Israel Gómez y Makiko Matsumura, the beautiful photography of Diego Dussuel and the sound track. The worst element of the movie is the narrative instability and some moments too long that get the spectator impatient.

Saura's first attempt at a musical yielded succesful results. The movie's main theme is Antonio Gades' mythical baile on Federico García Lorca's "Bodas de sangre" and it's latest example. Plot There is a wedding celebration in an Andaluz town. The bride is still in love with her old boy-friend, Leonarde. Once the wedding has been consuamted she passionately gives herself and elopes with him. The abandoned groom chases after them and, when he finds them, he challenges Leonardo to a duel with knives in which they both wind up dying. Lorca's tragic poetry, life's tragic feeling, death and the violence that followes around the men all their lives is reflected in the omen and anguish of the mother, who has lost her husband for a crime and one of her sons for another.

Love, dance and death. These are the three keys to "El amor brujo." Carmelo is in love with Candela, whose father has arranged a marriage with José, according to Gypsy law. José, who even after marriage continues to see his mistress Lucía, dies due to a stabbing shortly after. Carmelo is accused of killing José and spends four years in jail because of it. When he returns to town, Carmelo horrified watches as Candela dances each night with José's spirit in the place where he was assasianted. A witch tells Carmelo to dance the dance of fire with Candela, in order to rid of the space that now keeps them appart. Their attempt fails and the only solution is for José's in-life lover to be the same in death. Plot It's Gypsy tradition to arrange for marriage since childhood, without having a choice. This "law" falls on Candela and José. Carmelo, another Gypsy, forever in love with Candela cannot help the ceremony from happening. The time comes for the wedding and even in the party José reinterates to Lucía the love he has for her. José is stabbed and dies and Carmelo if unfairly sent to jail for four years. Candela, reluctant to admit to his death, goes every night to the place where José died in search for his spirit. Carmelo does not believe the witchery scenes Candela tells him of when he comes out of jail. He confesses his love to Candela but she cannot feel the same in return because José's spirit stands in between them. Following a witch's advise they dance the "Ritual dance of fire" under a full moon. In the darkness, the spirit appears and the four characters meet to decide their fate.

-FLAMENCO. In this section the user can watch a video with an Introduction to Flamenco and its history or go directly to the practical classes showing three different styles of flamenco dancing: sevillanas, rumba and bulería. The method used is simple and clear: First, choose one of the three styles. Next, a new menu appears where you can choose to watch the complete Dance, go to an Introduction to the style or practise the different steps of each dance by making a series of Movements.

For Sevillanas, a new menu of movements offers the possibility to watch each of the four coplas making up this flamenco style separately (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th) It is also possible to closely follow the obligatory steps of Sevillanas: Primer cuerpo, Segundo cuerpo and Estribillo for each part. This complete method allows you to quickly practise and learn how to dance sevillanas.

As the Rumba and Bulería, are free dances lending themselves to improvisation, the Movements, called Remates, provide the basic notions required to be able to dance fluently at any party or celebration.

The DVD includes a PC navigator allowing you to print off PDF files (holiday calendar, maps, city plans, recipes…) or play the flamenco tracks from the original soundtrack in MP3.

Plot

There is a wedding celebration in an Andaluz town. The bride is still in love with her old boy-friend, Leonarde. Once the wedding has been consuamted she passionately gives herself and elopes with him. The abandoned groom chases after them and, when he finds them, he challenges Leonardo to a duel with knives in which they both wind up dying.Lorca's tragic poetry, life's tragic feeling, death and the violence that followes around the men all their lives is reflected in the omen and anguish of the mother, who has lost her husband for a crime and one of her sons for another.

Love, dance and death. These are the three keys to 'El amor brujo'. Carmelo is in love with Candela, whose father has arranged a marriage with José, according to Gypsy law. José, who even after marriage continues to see his mistress Lucía, dies due to a stabbing shortly after. Carmelo is accused of killing José and spends four years in jail because of it. When he returns to town, Carmelo horrified watches as Candela dances each night with José's spirit in the place where he was assasianted. A witch tells Carmelo to dance the dance of fire with Candela, in order to rid of the space that now keeps them appart. Their attempt fails and the only solution is for José's in-life lover to be the same in death.

Plot

It's Gypsy tradition to arrange for marriage since childhood, without having a choice. This 'law' falls on Candela and José. Carmelo, another Gypsy, forever in love with Candela cannot help the ceremony from happening. The time comes for the wedding and even in the party José reinterates to Lucía the love he has for her. José is stabbed and dies and Carmelo if unfairly sent to jail for four years. Candela, reluctant to admit to his death, goes every night to the place where José died in search for his spirit. Carmelo does not believe the witchery scenes Candela tells him of when he comes out of jail. He confesses his love to Candela but she cannot feel the same in return because José's spirit stands in between them. Following a witch's advise they dance the "Ritual dance of fire" under a full moon. In the darkness, the spirit appears and the four characters meet to decide their fate.
