Mount Hermon to Eilat (North to South) – YMCA Bike 2015 Nov 26-Dec 8

Thurs, Nov 26 - Depart New York for

Day 1- Friday, Nov 27 - Arrival and Jerusalem night tour

We will meet Harel Nahmani’s team representative at the (near ) and transfer to Jerusalem. After checking into to the Jerusalem International YMCA and resting for the afternoon, the group will receive a trip briefing. We will then head out for a short ride through the alleyways of the Old City of Jerusalem. We will overnight at the Jerusalem International YMCA and meet a YMCA representative for a discussion of the Y’s role within the city on one of the two days at the YMCA.

Day 2 – Sat, Nov 28 – Second Day in Jerusalem

Day 2 in Jerusalem will have continued cycling, touring, and time at the Jerusalem International YMCA.

Day 4 – Mon, Nov 30 - Golan Heights to the and Beit Shean

After breakfast, we will receive our road bikes and start riding south along the Golan Heights and the Syrian border. We will go down to Valley, crossing the Sea of Galilee, the lowest freshwater lake on earth. We will stop and stay for night at YMCA Peniel and near Beit-Shean, an old city which has played an important role historically due to its geographical location.

Day 5: Tues, Dec 1 – Beit Shean – : The

Today’s ride will take us from Beit Shean to Kalya, near the Dead Sea. We will cross Bik'at HaYarden (Jordan Plains) near the border with Jordan.

Day 6: Wed, Dec 2 – Kalya –

Waking up on the Dead Sea's shore, and after breakfast, continue to ride near the Dead Sea shore, heading toward Dragot Cliffs for a view on the Dead Sea. The ride will finish at Mesada with an additional optional ride to the city of Arad, then transferring to Mitzpe Ramon for overnight.

Day 7- Thurs, Dec 3 - Mountain Bike & back to Mitzpe Ramon

We will devote our day to the trails the surround the Sde Boker region. You will be led by local cyclists that took part in building these trails that will take you into the most beautiful parts of the Negev . You will stop for a light lunch in the field and return to Sde Boker.

Day 8: Fri, Dec 4 - Mitzpe Ramon to Eilat (century day)

The ride will go from the high desert plain above the Ramon Crater and end at Ketura in the Arava region. Early in the morning we will bike out of Mitzpe Ramon and across the Ramon Crater. We will forge on to Eilat, ending our longest cycling leg of the trip.

Day 9: Sat, Dec 5 – Free Day in Eilat

Opportunities for swimming, touring, snorkeling, running, hiking, shopping, and eating in and around Eilat will exist, as well as rest and recuperation time.

Day 10: Sun, Dec 6

Opportunities will exist for an optional tour of Petra, Jordan, at extra cost, and continued adventures in and around the city.

Day 11: Mon, Dec 7 - Tel Aviv & Midnight flight to USA

We will leave Eilat early in the morning and head north towards Tel Aviv by bus. Once we arrive there we will end our tour of Israel with an easy ride of Tel Aviv- Israel’s cosmopolitan-Mediterranean city. Our unique route will take us through historic and human landmarks throughout the whole city including the Tel Aviv Port, the Yarkon River, the White City and Neve Tzedek. After a ride along the beachfront we will return to our hotel and meet again for dinner one of Tel Aviv's many great Restaurants, and to toast the end of the tour. We transfer to the airport for a midnight departure.

Estimated arrival in New York will be Tuesday afternoon, December 8, 2015.
