Hendrik Petrus Boshoff, who was a born train driver and career-long member of Utatu (as it used to be known) took his love of trains with him to the grave. It was one of Hendrik’s wishes in his will that his gravestone be a steam locomotive. Stephen Verreynne, of Coaches Business went on final retire- ment on the 28 March after 46 years of service. Stephen has been a staunch supporter of our trade union since he began his career. He was also a shop steward for the old ASA and TWU in his time. A vehicle builder by trade, when Stephen began his apprenticeship they used to build wooden coaches. “Stephen considers himself fortunate. He has been married for 40 years to the same lady, supports the and loves fish- ing. He has always been regarded by his colleagues as a very special character.
