Margaret Roberts, her last name before marriage, was born on October 13, 1925 Grantham, Lincolnshire to Alfred and Beatrice Roberts. Alfred was a grocer. When she got older, she was a science graduate in Oxford. She was working as a research chemist, which is a person that usually likes and does chemistry. She married a man named , which then she became Margaret Thatcher. She then gave birth to twins, Carol and .

She is famous because she was the first lady prime minister, which is like a president. She became prime minister in 1979 and she also served the longest in the 20 th century! She served for 12 years! She used her “,” which is her leadership style that is economic. Her goal was to rebuild Britain economically. Her leadership style made her the “Iron Lady.” She died of a stroke on April 8, 2013 in , England. She was a prime minister, a science graduate, and many other things. Now you know why she is called the “Iron Lady.”

Henry Ford

Imagine a world without cars. Thanks to Henry Ford, we wouldn’t have cars. Henry Ford was born in Dearborn, Michigan on July 30 th , 1863. As a boy he loved engines. He had seven other brothers and sisters. He loved machines and how they worked. Henry made machines and he became a mechanic when he was 16. A mechanic is someone who works on machines. Henry went to school in the winter and he worked on the farm in the summer. He went to Goldsmith, Bryant, and Stratton Business College in Detroit. He got married to Clara Jane Bryant in 1888. They had one kid named Edsel Ford.

Henry invented the “Quadricycle” in 1896 and that was his first car. He started The Ford Motor Company in 1903. Then he invented the Model T. He hired workers to form an assembly line. An assembly line is a line of workers that add part by part to make something. He made sure the prices were low so everyone could have one. Then he gave up his business to his grandson, Henry Ford II. Henry Ford once said”, a business that makes nothing but money is a poor business.” Henry Ford died in July 4 th , 1947. We remember him by colleges and universities, hospitals, and even football fields. Without him we wouldn’t have any cars.
