Cap off your day with Canada Day Parade. The parade starts at 4 p.m. At: 1005 Brimley Rd (north of Lawrence Ave E) Thomson Memorial Park Time: 10am – 4pm Canada Day at Fort York Fort York, the birthplace of urban Toronto, will celebrate Canada Day with a free, daylong, all- ages celebration packed with family-friendly activities, demonstrations, tours, and performances. In addition to flag raising and flag lowering ceremonies, the Fort York Summer Guard, dressed as members of the Canadian Regiment of Fencible Infantry (circa 1815), will perform demonstrations of musketry, artillery, and fife and drum music. Children can enjoy a drill activity, music classes, and a scavenger hunt. The Fort's volunteer historic cooks group will demonstrate period-specific cooking methods and recipes in the historic kitchen—allowing visitors to see, hear and taste what life must have been like for the Fort's early 19th century inhabitants. Free guided tours of barracks and fortifications will focus on the evolution and history of the old western entrance into Toronto harbour and highlight the lives of soldiers and officers at Fort York. At: 250 Fort York Blvd (west of Bathurst St) Fort York National Historic Site Time: 10am – 5pm East York Canada Day Festival Our 61st year! A day-long celebration of Canada's birthday beginning with a parade at 10am from Dieppe Park (Cosburn Ave) winding it's way to Stan Wadlow Park. Highlights of the day - live entertainment, midway, kids area, food...food...food..., 40+ artisans. The day concludes with a spectacular Fireworks display at 10pm. Parade begins at 10am from Dieppe Park Park events kick off at 12pm Artisan vendors - 11am-5pm Music all day - 12:20pm-10pm Food vendors - 11am-11pm Midway - 11am-11pm At: 888 Cosburn Ave (east of Woodbine Ave) Stan Waldow Park Time: 10am – 11pm Canada Day at Amesbury Park Come and enjoy an assortment of multicultural entertainment, children's activities (including a talent search) and vendors, ending the night with a fantastic fireworks display @ 10pm. At: 1507 Lawrence Ave W (west of Keele St) Amesbury Park Time: 11am – 10pm Canada Day at Centennial Park Drop by and enjoy the annual Toronto Ribfest. Use the picnic areas, have fun on the playground, splash in the wading pool or stroll around the conservatory. When night falls, join us for a fantastic fireworks display @ 10pm. Family Friendly Dance Party: Starting at 5:30 Trillium Park turns into an all ages dance party, perfect for those who want to dance, or relax by the water. Or how salamanders communicate to their family members through smell? Join us to learn amazing physical and behavioural adaptations of some of High Park’s resident animals! We’ll also teach you tracking skills so you can search for animal evidence and hopefully spot some of these amazing creatures. The stories are true and the improvised tales are performed by a cast who represent different intersections of race, sexuality, gender, faith, ability, and class. The show concludes with an open jam for all performers and interested audience members.
