Reach to provide more flexible working in new hub-based office plan

March 19 2021. Reach plc is to increase home working as part of its future working arrangements, post-lockdown, across all 110+ titles and 70+ regional Live sites.

With the vast majority of Reach colleagues working from home for over a year the company has decided to make it a permanent feature for many colleagues – moving to a combination of office based, office and home based and home based teams.

The company is to move to a hub-based model with 15 large offices or ‘hubs’ located in Belfast, , , Dublin, Cardiff, , Newcastle, Hull, Leeds, , London ( HQ), (Oldham), Nottingham, Plymouth and an office in the South East.

Colleagues assigned to hubs will continue working from home until lockdown guidance changes. In the meantime, Reach will be investing in upgrading all hubs to allow for more flexible working.

Commenting on the announcement a Reach spokesperson said:

“We carried out a survey of all colleagues that showed a majority found home working suited their needs. Moving forward colleagues will either be home-based or working mainly from home with regular office attendance, and around a quarter permanently office-based, working from one of 15 hubs around the country.

“We’re pleased to be investing in all our hubs to provide more modern, flexible working environments. This solution provides increased flexibility with the ability to have access to meeting space to recapture face-to-face collaboration and a social element – when lockdown rules allow.

Moving forward we will be investing more in our strategy and our journalism and less in buildings.”
