They are fronted onto by primarily residential dwellings and form a buffer between Walton Road and said houses. Identified in the Open Space and Recreation Assessment 2014: Natural Greenspaces Beauty Visual attractiveness Contribution to the townscape Contribution to the landscape X Contribution to the character and/or setting of the settlement including views to and from the X settlement Contribute to local identity and character X Contribute to sense of place X Score: 2 The areas are visually attractive and form [part of the local townscape. However they offer little to satisfy the remaining criteria. Historic significance Has significant recorded / demonstrable local historical value / provides the setting for a X locally listed building. Provides the setting for at least one statutory historical designation (this includes X Conservation Areas, Listed Buildings, Scheduled Ancient Monuments and Areas of High Archaeological Potential).     www.WaterProjectsOnline.com Water Treatment & Supply Island Barn Reservoir Remedial Works reinforcement of 110-year old earth-filled embankment reservoir with minimal impact to service by Amit Chakraborti sland Barn Reservoir is located in West Molesey near Hampton Court on the Surrey/London border. The reservoir is a non-impounding reservoir and is retained by an earth fill embankment with puddle clay core approximately I10.8m high and 2,700m long. The reservoir has a stated capacity of 4,191,000m3 and a surface area of 489,700m2, when full to its top water level of 17.59m AOD. For a number of years signs of leakages were observed. Leaks were suspected, but there was no direct information about the depth and location. Hence there would be high degree of uncertainty that any solution was dealing with the problem and not making it worse. There were operational restrictions on the reservoir which was run at a lower top water level and with enhanced surveillance (visual and surveyed) to pick up any movement/change in conditions. Within this project the problematic areas were identified and a combination of silent/pressed piling, from plant mounted on the water was used. The project was delivered by the eight2O joint venture, working for Thames Water. Chalk is a relatively soft, fine-grained, white limestone, consisting mostly of the debris of calcium-smectite, which exhibits a unique combination of properties on which its industrial and, to a lesser extent, roof tiles and clay pipes.     Some Notes on Railways in the Molesey and Walton Area By Greg Martin Introduction Many of us are likely to be surprised that temporary railways were once used in the Molesey area, as virtually no sign of them remains. Temporary railways were used across Surrey during construction of the Kingston Bypass, the Brooklands Motor Racing Track, the Guildford Bypass and the River Wey Improvement Scheme. However, the notes below concentrate on those industrial railways that once existed in Molesey and Walton. John Aird & Sons, Knight & Bessborough Reservoirs John Aird & Sons used two standard gauge steam locomotives when they constructed the Knight and Bessborough Reservoirs in Molesey for the Southwark & Vauxhall Water Company. The locomotives were both made by Manning Wardle & Co Ltd of Leeds. Work on the reservoirs commenced in April 1901 and finished in April 1907, the water company having become the Metropolitan Water Board during the construction period in June 1904. Thomas Docwra, Enlargement of Molesey Reservoirs Thomas Docwra used five standard gauge steam locomotives when enlarging existing reservoirs in Molesey. The enlargement work was carried out from May 1898 to April 1904. The locomotives were by Black Hawthorn (one acquired second-hand), Hudswell Clarke (one acquired second-hand) and Manning Wardle (one acquired second-hand and two new from the makers). One of the locos later moved to Brentford, where Thomas Docwra had a contract to construct the main road between Brentford and Osterley. Dick Kerr & Co, Walton Pumping Station Dick Kerr & Co Ltd constructed the Walton Pumping Station for the Metropolitan Water Board using an unidentified standard gauge steam locomotive.
