Open discussion about Jewish influence in American politics is forbidden, says Israeli commentator Israel Shahak, "which in my view is due to their great political influence in general and their predominance in the media in particular. The Hebrew press [in Israel] does not have such inhibitions. This is due, among other reasons, also to the fact that the power of the state of Israel depends to a considerable extent on its ability to use the organized American Jews and their power for its own interests."
