BY CHHAGANLAL THAKURDAS MODI, B. A. Educational Inspector I Kadi District, BARODA STAn. " BOMBAY: " GUJARATI" PRINTING PRESS. 1909 PREFACE. IT is universally known how much interest His Highness lI4aharaja Saheb -Syajirao Gaekwar takes in educating his subjects. His Highness' devotion to the "Cause of education, his sincere desire to see it reach every nook and comer of his territory, and his great anxiety for the moral and material welfare of his subjects, 'have culminated in introducing the law of compulsory education and in making primary education free in the whole State. He has thus set an example in India, and has shown what needs to be done and what could be done, if the ruler so wishes it, to lead his people and give them the' benefits of light and learning. Un'der these circum stances, I thought that a full report of the progress of education in. the largest district of H. H. the Maharaja Saheb would be a very useful and instructive . compilation for reference ••It would be seen that the first beginning to impart instruction to the people ·of Kadi District was made in 187.2 and that the advance made in these 36 years has been most striking and exemplary; but every one who has during the past few years watched the progress of education in the Baroda State knows full well that it is solely ·due to the unerring foresight, .earnest zeal, and constant guidance of H. -

Local Brands V/S National Brands: Brand Quality Perception Or Behavioral Intention
RESEARCH PAPER Management Volume : 3 | Issue : 4 | April 2013 | ISSN - 2249-555X Local Brands v/s National Brands: Brand Quality Perception or Behavioral Intention KEYWORDS Brand liking, Brand recall, Local brands, Rural market, Quality perception Indra Meghrajani Dr A. K. Asthana Assistant Professor, L.J Institute of Management Director, Institute of Cooperative Management Studies Bhopal ABSTRACT 70% of India’s population lives in 627000 villages in rural areas. As per the National Council for Applied Eco- nomic Research (NCAER) study, there area as many ‘middle income and above’ households in the rural areas as there are in the urban areas. At the highest income level there are 2.3 million urban households as against 1.6 million households in rural areas. According to NCAER projections, the number of middle & high income households in rural India is expected to grow 80 million to 111 million by 2007. In the state of Gujarat with a population of 62% with 18066 Villages, in the district of Mehsana lie 593 villages where television, radio and hoardings everything is seen. Yet people buy and use locally made products and loose products. In this paper the researchers have tried to study the behavior behind using locally made brands, the awareness among the people about the brands, the brand recall, brand quality perception and also the brand liking. Where the urban markets have stagnated and the companies are rushing to rural areas then what is the behavioral intention behind buying locally made brands and loose products. The distribution system of the companies and also the technology has made it easier for rural people to have a feel of national brands. -
