Frequently this time of year we feel groggy, fatigued, and notice ourselves reaching for that extra cup of coffee. Fatigue can be a symptom of many things: adrenal stress, lack of restful sleep, high levels of stress in our daily lives among a multitude of other factors. It comes as no surprise that many of us feel fatigue and, boy, doesn’t it make it hard to get out of bed some mornings? Who wants to feel that way? That’s right, no one! So, what can we do to help our sleepy selves?

Alongside making sure we’re getting enough exercise and eating plenty of nutrient dense foods, we can get regular chiropractic adjustments. How can a chiropractic adjustment help us feel less exhausted? Great question!

As we know our body and our brain communicate through nerve impulses, or nerve energy. These nerve impulses act as messages from the brain that are carried through the spinal cord and the spinal nerves to tell our organs, muscles, and glands what to do and vice versa. We need this healthy and unimpeded communication to make sure our body is keeping our ‘stress hormones’ in check and allowing us to properly rest at night. Regular chiropractic adjustments make sure that any impediments, called subluxations, in the spine are removed causing a healthy flow of nerve energy through the body which supports us in staying rested, calm and happy. Self Love

This month everyone is focused on one of the most wonderful things in the world- love. Do you know what the most important kind of love is? Love for YOU!

Why not use this month as a celebration of how amazingly awesome you are? Here are a few mantras to keep the self-love flowing. Pick one and repeat it to yourself as much as possible. Write it on your mirror, write it on a piece of paper and tape it on your wall, desk, in your bathroom, speak it or scream it so you can really hear it!

‘I love myself and am worthy of that love.’ ‘I choose to focus on the positive.’ ‘I am strong, beautiful, and becoming the best version of me.’ ‘I trust myself and know I am exactly where I need to be in my life.’ ‘I am worthy of happiness and will let that happiness be visible to everyone.’

Is Chiropractic Care Safe for Children?

My children are too young for a backache, do they really need chiropractic care? This question has been hot topic in the media this year and the answer is yes, absolutely! Receiving chiropractic care is about much more than back aches. Studies have shown that regular pediatric chiropractic care can bolster children’s immune systems, improve sleep quality, even improve behavior and attitude.

Just because our children don’t complain of back pain doesn’t mean that their isn’t strain on their nervous system. In fact, most people’s first subluxations, or spinal misalignments, occur as early as birth. Further subluxations can occur with any subsequent falls and injuries when learning how to pick their heads up, learning how to walk, or playing sports, for example. All of life’s little boo-boos can interfere with nervous system function which can affect our children’s general health and happiness. Regular chiropractic adjustments help resolve these interferences and allow our children a greater state of well being and every chance to be their joyful selves.

Finding the Real You in the New Year

As the new year begins there is so much pressure to formulate resolutions and work on the ‘new you’. There is nothing wrong with deciding that this is your year to get fit and join the gym or your year to cook more and buy healthier foods, those are wonderful goals. These are external, or material, changes we choose to incorporate into our lives to live a happier, healthier life. This year, what about considering setting positive internal goals? Such as… I will take a moment before each new task to take a breath and center myself. I will focus less on fear-based thoughts and more on love-based thoughts. I will stop every few minutes and assess my body for stress. Are my toes curled, my jaw clenched, shoulders scrunched up to my ears? Then slowly unravel it.

Peace, positivity, and the ‘new you’ are created from the inside out.

Write down the small, internal changes you wish to make in 2017 and what you hope to find: peace, contentedness, joy. At the end of the year, flip back to this document and review how the internal changes you chose to implement have fostered, not the ‘new you’, but the real you.

Winter Weather Calls for Chiropractic Care

Winter is here! There are so many things to love about it; the beautiful snow, fun activities, and the permission to hunker down, rest and relax. However, winter does come with its challenges: colds, flu, aches and pains. Chiropractic care can help us conquer these little hurdles so we can fully enjoy this beautiful season.

How can chiropractic care help us work through these seasonal challenges? Great question! Chiropractors remind us that symptoms of colds, flu, aches and pains are all intelligent auto-immune or inflammatory responses that our brilliant body triggers, in an effort to protect us from outside invaders. We may not enjoy the experience but these responses are not a bad thing. So how can we help our body continue to protect us, decrease the length of time we are challenged and keep our joints limber? We can get chiropractic adjustments that allow for optimal nerve energy to be supplied to our hardworking body.

Support your body using chiropractic adjustments so you can fully take advantage of all the joys of the winter season and this New Year!
