Well, unless you count the filler issue where they reprinted the Meet Jubilee story. It's old, so it's full of 80's hair, clothes, and slang. Also, it takes place at a mall. I guess Primer is the start of an all-girls team? I suppose that's cool, but it wasn't what I was expecting. She notices some guy following her, calls for backup, X-Men: Primer Vol. 1 all the single ladies come to her rescue. The scary stalker guy turns out to be John Sublime no idea who that isbut evidently he has a history with the X-Men. A not-good history. Gratuitous Psylocke picture for Jeff. Because I'm an awesome friend. In the next issue, that almost-kill order comes back to bite Storm in the butt. Or, to be exact, a whiny Rachel comes back to bite her in the butt. She can't understand why Storm automatically assumes that she gets to wear the Leader Pants. If you want to read a better review, check out Sesana's. I agree with everything she has to say in that one, except for the part about loving Storm's hair going back to the old mohawk style. It's not that she doesn't look sort of cool with a mohawk, but I keep imagining how often she would have to shave the sides of her head to keep that haircut looking fresh. First volume of Brian Wood's X-Men, risen from the ashes of Marvel's scheduled then deleted before release XX all-girls mutant series, is just far better than I used to remember when I've read it years ago as individual issues. Author really knows how to write character's dynamics, Coipel's artworks are real eye-candy, and at last Jubilee returns to be relevant again after something like ten years of misusing. A war many years in the making is about to take place in the Jean Grey Institute for Higher Learning. Primer was flat out a disappointment. I'm a big fan of the X-Men, but nothing about this story was particularly engaging. Ancient beings one of which it seems I should have heard of bring war to the X-Men's doorstep. Perhaps if I knew anything about John Sublime then th Jubilee is heading home with a surprise. Perhaps if I knew anything about John Sublime then this story would have been more intriguing, but I don't know anything about him and he's as bland as vanilla ice cream. Well, except for Psylocke. Never cared all that much for her. Unfortunately, it just didn't work out the way I wanted it to. Obviously, it's been a long time since I was a regular X-book reader, because I had no earthly idea who John Sublime was. I think the most important thing to take from that article is that there was once a character in the X-books who w Well, this sounded interesting. I think the most important thing to take from that article is that there was once a character in X-Men: Primer Vol. 1 X-books who went by the codename Redneck. Not really knowing who this guy was, I ended up not really caring all that much. Besides, his storyline was horribly compressed. I'm not sure why it was squeezed into so few issues, but it made it feel very rushed. I also didn't like the way Wood handled the conflict between Storm and Rachel. It felt like he started with the idea that they must butt heads somehow, and he worked his way back from there. Rachel questioning why Storm would be the team leader is just so bizarre at this point.
