2013-10-28 08:08 CET Producer/Artist Big Swede To Release Part Three Of Instrumental Electronica/Soundtrack Album Los Angeles, CA, October 28th, 2013 – Swedish born producer/artist Big Swede is releasing his latest album, Electronic Core District Pt.3, on October 31st, 2013. Just like Pt.1 and Pt.2, the release includes 19 instrumental tracks in an Electronica/Soundtrack style. The three part album includes new tracks and some already featured on several different TV-shows like NCIS, CSI: Miami, NCIS: Los Angeles, Alphas, MTV Video Music Awards Pre-show, and also the two Big Swede tracks used as an intro for the 07-08 Van Halen tour. “The 3 releases include a total of 58 tracks. Electronic Core District Pt.1, was released in May and Electronic Core District Pt.2, in August,” explains Big Swede. “There are two guests on Pt.3. My longtime friend Johnny Griparic (Slash’s Snakepit, Nina Hagen) played bass on ‘Maniac Man’ and Howie Simon (Alcatrazz, Nelson) played guitar on ‘The Element Of Danger’. These guys have appeared on several of my releases and it is always a treat to get them on tape,” continues Big Swede. “Downtown LA and the Historic Core District has fueled my creativity for years. The title of these three albums, Electronic Core District, really fits due to the area and also because the music is so electronic and computer driven,” says Big Swede. “I’m still ‘part human, part machine’ but the cover art, an x-ray of my head, has been slightly modified for Pt.3,” laughs Big Swede.

Likewise, Lemmy seemed too much a part of rock’s scenery to leave us so soon. As we went to press with this issue, we also learned the sad news that Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey had passed (look out for a full tribute next month), making this winter the worst in memory for losing legends. The only very slight consolation for all this is that it prompted us to listen again to the music that made them household names. In the case of Bowie, it was a reminder of the astonishing breadth and ambition of his music-making (see cover feature, p76). Rightly regarded as classic now, Bowie’s music must have been sensational when he was starting out – and I’m sure not everyone ‘got it’ at the time. Passing years have a habit of making the new and strange in music feel comfortably familiar, and finally classic. That thought has been a reminder of the importance of seeking out uncommon sounds, and not just sticking to your comfort zone of old favourites.

  • ITALIAN BOWIE Tutto Di David Bowie in Italia E Visto Dall'italia INTRODUZIONE

Outside: The Creation of a Liminoid Space as a Metaphor for Pre-Millennial Society Author: Nicholas P. Greco, B.A. (University of Ottawa) Supervisor: Dr Susan Fast Number of Pages: xi, 166. 111 ABSTRACT The majority of writings on David Bowie have focussed on his early work. Many feel that Bowie's early work has much merit, as has been made clear by the vast pool of both academic and popular writings regarding his work in the early 1970s, his collaborations with Brian Eno in the late 1970s, and his most commercially accepted works in the early 1980s. However, much of the academic writing on Bowie has chosen to focus only on these works and ignores his more recent material. This thesis contributes to the body of knowledge regarding the more recent work of David Bowie. In 1995, Bowie released the album 1. Outside. Through its music and lyrics, album art, accompanying narrative, music video and live performance, Bowie presents a world of the absurd and violent. He engages with the notions of murder as art, body modification as ritual, and the state of society at the end of the twentieth century.
