The Mountain Hawks, who had won four straight to lead off the year are looking to snap a two-game 14 Championship TBA losing skid. The Mountain Hawks’ defense kept them in the first matchup against the Bison on Saturday at Stabler Arena, holding Bucknell to just five points in the second quarter, but a late run in the fourth gave the Bison an eight-point win in the end. The same couldn’t be said about Home team in BOLD CAPS Sunday’s defeat as Bucknell nearly came away with a wire-to-wire win, gaining separation and winning by 14. ^Mini-conference game Despite coming off the bench for the first time in three games on Sunday, senior guard Mary Clougherty once again had a strong showing with a team-high 15 points in the defeat. To start the year, Clougherty has notched five double-digit scoring efforts in her first six games. Sophomore Frannie Hottinger continued to showcase her offense as a consistent scoring option by adding 10 points and nine rebounds in the loss, nearly capturing her second double-double of the season so far. Hottinger, at 12.8 points per game, sits second on the team behind Clougherty. SPORTS COMMUNICATIONS Another Mountain Hawk averaging double-figures this season is freshman Mackenzie Kramer, who like Clougherty, has scored 10 or more points in all but one game this season. She is third on the team in scoring at 10.8 points per game and is second in the Patriot League for scoring by a freshman, just behind Holy Cross’ Bronagh Power-Cassidy (11.7). Red Door Publications is a recognized student organization at Muhlenberg College, in Allentown PA. Photos as credited Send correspondence to: Red Door Publications Muhlenberg College 2400 Chew Street Allentown, PA 18102 Printed in the United States of America ABOUT THIS BOOK When in Allentown, do as Allentonians do. Need some help? We’ve assembled a fool-proof guide to get you started. Written by college students for college students, Living Here in Allen- town picks up at the edge of campus—the world beyond the Red Doors. We show you around your new hometown, from its greasy spoons to its drive-in theatres. The book was born out of frustration. Most Muhlenberg students confine themselves to campus. The brave make it as far as the strip malls off Cedar Crest Boulevard, but few of us ever leave the West End. Downtown Allentown, in particular, hardly regis- ters in the Muhlenberg mind. The guide is meant to change all this—to burst the infamous “Muhlenberg Bubble.” The book took shape in a fall 2004 Muhlenberg College course, “Print Production.” You could say that this guide—Living Here in Allentown—is the 21 students’ final project. Editors, researchers, graphic designers, food critics, publicists, ad salespeople—we were all of these over the course of a semester. We liked it enough that we’ve formed a group, Red Door Publications, to update the book and to work on new projects. We wandered the city—tasted the soup at the Shanty, rode the Dorney Park roller-coasters—so that you, too, would venture be- yond the Red Doors.

History of Lehigh University 1864-1993 HISTORY OF LEHIGH UNIVERSITY 1864-1993 1864 The honorable Asa Packer of Mauch Chunk called on Rt. Rev. William B. Stevens, D.D., Bishop of Pennsylvania, at his home in Philadelphia and, unsolicited, told the Bishop he desired to give $500,000.00 for the purpose of founding an educational institution in the Lehigh Valley, and asked the Bishop's help in devising a plan to carry out his purpose. 1865 Mr. Packer appointed a provisional board of trustees consisting of himself, Robert H. Sayre, Robert A. Packer, and Bishop Stevens as chairman. On July 27, 1865, while Mr. Packer himself was abroad, the remaining group met in the Old Sun Inn in Bethlehem and began to make plans. After considering various other sites, Mr. Packer selected and gave a plot of fifty-six acres in the then South Bethlehem as a location for the proposed institution. On November 4, 1865, Henry Coppee, M.A., University of Georgia, 1848, was elected first president. President Coppee had been a student at Yale for two years and had graduated from West Point in 1845. He had also served as an officer and assistant professor at West Point, and as professor of English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. 1866 On the ninth day of February, 1866, the Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the honorable A.
