  • Marist College Fight Song
2010-11 HIGHLIGHTS The Red Foxes broke into the top-25 in February and have earned their highest national rankings in program history. Erica Allenspach was named the MAAC Player of the Year and MAAC Tournament MVP after she led Marist to its sixth straight MAAC Title. The Marist women’s basketball team enters the NCAA Tournament on the nation’s longest winning streak. The 26-game stretch is also a program record. Marist College was chosen by the NCAA as the overall winner in the 2010-11 NCAA Division I “Pack the House” Challenge. Marist beat out 177 participating institutions which included schools from 32 conferences and sellout crowds by Army, Baylor, Duke, Gonzaga, Louisville, Michigan State, Navy, Oregon and Pacific. Marist is the only school in the country to sellout its “Pack the House” game four years in a row. Head Coach Brian Giorgis became the first coach in Marist women’s basketball history to win 200 games. He accomplished the feat in 264 games. Giorgis began the season ranked 11th among active coaches in winning percentage. Rachele Fitz became the first women’s basketball player to have her jersey retired. She left the program as Marist’s all-time leading scorer (2,447) and rebounder (1,066). Fitz is one of four players in school history to have her jersey retired and joined men’s basketball players Drafton Davis, Steve Smith and Rik Smits in the McCann Center rafters.
