Originally opened in 1934 by Joseph St. John and his wife, Catherine, who came to America from Greece in 1925, the Owl Shop began as a bookstore, but Joseph quickly began mixing and selling his own tobacco blends which soon became a regional and national success. After the death of her husband, Catherine kept the shop open until 1998, when Glen Greenberg purchased the quaint tobacco shop. In 1999 Glen acquired a liquor license and in 2006 refurbished the space introducing a robust lineup of live music to the Owl, which can be experienced every Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
