Col Thomas Rivard, commander, 68th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 43rd Sustainment Brigade, and Command Sgt. Maj. Colvin Bennett, the battalion’s senior enlisted leader, cased the colors in preparation for deployment. The 68th CSSB furled its colors to symbolize the unit’s departure from Fort Carson as the battalion deploys to Afghanistan and Iraq in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. Soldiers from 68th CSSB’s Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 60th Ord. Company, and the battalion rear detachment formed on the parade field standing in ranks for distinguished guests, Soldiers and Families attending the ceremony. HHD, 68th CSSB, is scheduled for a 12-month deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom; and Soldiers of the 60th Ord., deploying to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, are also scheduled to return in November 2010.
