Synopsis: Ingrid Thorburn (Aubrey Plaza) is an unhinged social media stalker with a history of confusing “likes” for meaningful relationships. Taylor Sloane (Elizabeth Olsen) is an Instagram-famous “influencer” whose perfectly curated, boho-chic lifestyle becomes Ingrid’s latest obsession. When Ingrid moves to LA and manages to insinuate herself into the social media star’s life, their relationship quickly goes from #BFF to #WTF. Built around a brilliantly disarming performance from Aubrey Plaza, Ingrid Goes West (winner of the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at Sundance) is a savagely hilarious dark comedy that satirizes the modern world of social media and proves that being #perfect isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. A CONVERSATION WITH WRITER/DIRECTOR MATT SPICER HOW DID THIS PROJECT ORIGINATE? My co-writer David Branson Smith and I have been friends for many years and were looking for something to work on together. We were having lunch and talking about our mutual obsession with Instagram and how it brings out the worst in us, making us feel bad about ourselves, while also being wildly entertaining and addictive.

Based on Greg Sestero’s best-selling tell-all about the making of Tommy’s cult- classic disasterpiece The Room (“The Greatest Bad Movie Ever Made”), The Disaster Artist is a hilarious and welcome reminder that there is more than one way to become a legend—and no limit to what you can achieve when you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing. ABOUT THE PRODUCTION In 2003, an independent filmmaker launched himself into the business out of nowhere with one of the worst movies ever made—The Room, a torrid romantic melodrama about a love triangle gone awry that was written, directed, and produced by Tommy Wiseau. This enigmatic figure with dyed-black hair, bearing an impenetrable foreign accent, became infamous in Hollywood after erecting a billboard on Highland Avenue promoting his bizarre $6 million vanity project. On the billboard was a close-up of Wiseau’s tough-guy demeanor, replete with a sunken eyelid and a misspelled tagline promising “Tennessee Williams-level drama.” Premiering on two screens in Southern California and abruptly disappearing after grossing a paltry $1800 in two weeks, The Room gained new life in the years to come through midnight screenings and word of mouth.

FILM: THE LITTLE HOURS FDG RATING: 2.6 KKKOO Film Discussion Group (FDG) Scale is 1-5 (5 is best) Jeff Baena: Director & Writer Ensemble Cast: Kate Micucci (Genevra), Alison Brie (Alessandra), Aubrey Plaza (Fernanda) Molly Shannon (Mother Superior) Tom Reilly (FatherTommasso) Fred Armisen (Bishop) DATE: August 20, 2017 DISCUSSION SUMMARY: THE LITTLE HOURS The Little Hours, seems like an extended SNL comedy skit with familiar faces playing Mother Superior (Molly Shannon), Father Tommasso (John C. Reilly), visiting bishop (Fred Armisen), and a group of misbehaving, sex craved nuns who speak in the slangy, obscenity-laden language of today’s youth. The story is loosely based on a 14th century novella, The Decameron, which were tales told in the countryside as folks were escaping the plague. Evidently, in medieval times, daughters were sometimes sent to the convent just so the family could have socioeconomic gains. Or girls were often entrusted to the church’s care if they were sexual misfits, divorcées, unwed mothers, or unmarriageable. In this film, saintliness has flown out the stained glass window. The band of randy young nuns act more like jealous high school students taking out resentment on each other and then channeling their sexual desires on the new hunky gardener who pretends to be a deaf mute in an effort to discourage the girls’ lusty advances. Even Father Tommasso and Mother Superior are having trouble respecting their own vows of chastity. The Father clearly complains, “that monastery is so boring, all we do is pray! I mean, it is important, but ...,” A raunchy sex romp comedy in the hills of Italy with a cast of nuns and less than saintly Father and Mother Superior, was hilarious to some of our resident reviewers.

  • Connecting Content with Consumers Volume 7 Issue 13
The Fast est Growing DVD, CD and Blu- ray Ret ail Cat alog Connecting Content with Consumers Volume 7 Issue 13 Exciting news for Studios & for our partner retailers this week, as DVD and Blu-ray sales of titles in the AV Collection continue to march strongly into the summer months. Driving this surge is the growing breadth of new to video titles Allied Vaughn is making available to retailers to compete for consumer collecting dollars. This title expansion is fueled by Allied Vaughn's MOD distribution platform, which effectively supports content owners with a low resource strategy to continue to offer a broad catalog of physical titles without regard to sales velocity. On the tide of a strong media push, Gunpowder & Sky's "The Little Hours" has garnered a lot of attention and presale opportunity for all our partner retailers and an option for new retailers to consider. For Sci-Fi sites, "Displacement" from All Channel Films and "Monday at 11:00 AM" from K Street are now up for sale and feature strong cast and production values. AV MOD strategically supports the indie filmmaker and with minimum resources, brings their titles such as "The Grace of Bob" from Bell Tower to market. This is a great example of getting a title into physical retail effortlessly and without the usual constraints of traditional supply chain management. Major studios continue to add exciting new titles to the market as well, Warner Archive brings Albert Brooks "Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World" and Sony's BD release "The Comedian" starring Robert DeNiro are also ready for presale.
