A Green Party motion Ward condemning the cuts was passed Councillor unanimously by councillors of all parties. It called on train bosses, TfL and the government to rethink their plans. The cut in services will mean stations including Forest Hill, Brockley and New Cross Gate, will be served by only four trains an hour to London Bridge instead of six. The cuts emerged despite the government saying when they awarded Dean Walton at Brockley station the contract last summer that the new rail franchise would mean more regular services. Green Party councillor Dean Walton, who tabled the motion, said, "These service cuts are unacceptable. The long-awaited Romayne East London Line service should not be used as an excuse to cut London Bridge services Phoenix purely for financial reasons."
