Pierogi pinching continues again this coming Saturday, September 18th at 9:00am and finishes when we meet our goal of 9,000 pierogi ready for our guests. We need pinchers, a pot watcher and pot washers and dough rollers. We are also looking for individuals who want to be part of the fun kitchen team. Yes that is you! NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED IN KITCHEN TRAINING! If you want to help out by stirring the pots or checking the pans please give Marilyn Mosinski a call at 216.402.9005. We need help in the kitchen on Friday starting at 3:30pm and Sunday starting at 8:00am. RAFFLE TICKETS: Please remember to return your SOLD raffle tickets either in the collection basket, drop them off at the rectory during office hours or put them in the mail. There are additional raffle tickets available to purchase or sell, please see one of the priests after mass or stop by the rectory. Our sweepstake raffle is the major part of the financial success of our festival! VOLUNTEERS: Sharon Kozak, our volunteer coordinator, will be in the vestibule after all masses this weekend. She will be there to sign up volunteers to work the festival. We also will need volunteers to help with the setup starting on Monday, September 27th at 6:00pm and continue that entire week. If you can’t help during the festival but can find a few minutes to help during the week of setup we would greatly appreciate it. We especially need workers on Thursday, September 29th starting at 5:00pm until we get the hall all together. We need a group of volunteers to breakdown the decorations starting at 5:30pm on Sunday, October 3rd . The old royal city took over that function in the partition Ftimes. Inthis city, situated at the foot of Wawel Hill, in its historic monuments and among thetombs of the Polish kings and heroes, the nation deprived of its own state found the strength necessary to survive. The Cracovians themselves gre− atly contributed to the special status of their city. It was also due to their efforts that Cracow became themost important academic circle in the Polish lands. It happe− ned owing to thespectacular development of the Jagiellonian University and the establishment of the Academy of Sciences. Cracow was also the main centre ofPo− lish art (many talented people studied at the School of Fine Arts, which in 1900 changed its name into theAcademy of Fine Arts) and Polish literary life, especially in the so−called Young Poland epoch. The grand, national celebrations that were held annually and the splendid celebrations commemorating the important anniver− saries of historical events transformed the old Piast and Jagiellon capital into themost important centre of Polish national life. Also then Cracow became the most impor− tant centre of Polish religious life besides Częstochowa. In its many churches, thepil− grims from all over the country would seek spiritual support. Also the religious orders exiled by the Prussians andMoscovians would find their shelter here. It is worth reminding that the Felician sisters expelled from Warsaw settled in Cracow in1865.

US President Trump’s Jerusalem Decision The Holy Land’s most senior Roman Catholic bishop has spoken out against President Trump’s decision to move the US Embassy to Jerusalem. Archbishop Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Apostolic Administrator of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, warned that the move could increase tensions in the region. He said: ‘I think that this will create a big problem, an explosion in all of the Arab countries especially the Muslim countries. Jerusalem should be at the end of these negotiations, not the beginning. And any unilateral decision will create more frustration, and anger and I’m afraid will bring to more violence. I don’t think it is wise to do it in this way.’ Archbishop Pizzaballa was also signatory to a letter to US President Trump from the Patriarchs and Heads of Churches in Jerusalem – representing the region’s Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant Christians – which cautioned against relocating the US Embassy.
