Level Information

Quick Summary “Vault 115” is a quest for Fallout 4 designed for players that are at level 40+. The quest allows player to utilize lockpicking and hacking if they choose. This quest takes place in the glowing sea and has challenging combat. The quest begins with the player finding a gunner at the Dugout Inn. Once the player starts the quest, they are sent to investigate a team of missing gunners that disappeared in the glowing sea. The quest takes place in the interior of a vault near the Federal supply cache 84NE. The vault is a large space that focuses on small vignette encounters with a legendary Deathclaw called Betsy. The vault also focuses on telling the story of Arthur Wentworth and how he tried to keep Betsy as a pet. The main quest leads to the player finding Betsy and her last remaining egg in the basement. They can choose to leave Betsy and her egg alone, take it and return it to the gunner, or keep the egg for themselves.

Context “Vault 115” is a side quest independent of the main story quests in Fallout 4. Depending on the route the player chooses they can choose to leave Betsy and her egg alone, take it and return it to the gunner or keep the egg for themselves.

The quest can be found any time after the player reaches level 40. The player would need to stumble across the quest by talking to a gunner at the dugout Inn that is rambling about the strange disappearance of his team. This is a stand-alone quest with no additional missions.

Backstory

Figure 11: Vault 115 Timeline

• Full sized images are included in the document.

Vault 115 was a vault designed to test the effects that radioactive iodine experiments can have on children and various disabilities. The chief scientist Arthur Wentworth opens the vault much later and finds Deathclaw eggs. Arthur begins harvesting them and using them in the experiments by feeding them to the vault residents and using them in clinical trials. The mother of the eggs tracks them back to the vault, rampages through the vault and takes resident in the basement reactor room. The scientist names her Betsy and keeps her as a type of pet. Betsy kills all the vaults inhabitants and guards the vault along with the still existing prewar security.

Aftermath The players relationship with gunners in the world does not change. If the player keeps the egg, they can sell it for a lot of caps or cook it into an especially effective food item. If the player chooses to leave Betsy and her Egg alone, they are friendly unless the player takes the egg or fires first. If the player returns the egg to the gunner, they will get 400 caps (500 if bargained with).
