Guy Tipton from Shelburne Yacht Club, and this year’s recipient of the Nova Trophy Coach of the Year award, who has assisted BYC for the past six years with the Junior Yacht Club program says that BYC’s Junior Regatta is the best in Nova Scotia, especially for beginners. It’s a “happy event” that provides the kids with lots of great memories. The instructors are top notch, and the race committee volunteers always have a word of encouragement for the kids. There were 60 Junior Sailors registered this year coming from all over Cape Breton to sail in Kingfishers Prams, Optis, 420s and Lasers.
