Donau, August 18, 2020 – When the starting lights for the Nürburgring 24 Hours go out on September 26, Audi Sport wants to fight for the sixth overall victory with a strong line-up. Since the beginning of the customer racing program in 2009 the brand has already won the endurance classic five times with the GT3 sports car Audi R8 LMS. No other manufacturer was as successful in this era. “We have succeeded in shaping an era at the Nürburgring in just over a decade. At our twelfth start we now want to fight for our sixth overall victory,” says Chris Reinke, Head of Audi Sport customer racing. Like last year, the long-standing Audi Sport customer teams Car Collection Motorsport, Land-Motorsport and Phoenix Racing, together with the team from Audi Sport customer racing, are each entrusted with the deployment of one R8 LMS. In addition, the brand expects further entries by private teams in various classes. The KÜS Team75 Bernhard will tackle the pro-category of the 24-hour race in Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium, with a Porsche 911 GT3 R. Herberth Motor- sport fields two Porsche 911 GT3 R at the event from July 27 to 30 driven by profes- sional and amateur drivers. Inaugurated in 1924, the 24 Hours of Spa has a long tra- dition. The squad of the two-time Le Mans winner and team owner Timo Bernhard can rely on the Porsche works drivers Michael Christensen (Denmark), Kévin Estre (France) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium). Vanthoor has a wealth of racing experience at his home circuit and won the endurance classic in 2014. One of Herbert Motorsport’s contenders will be manned by Porsche works driver Sven Müller (Germany), Porsche Young Professional Mathieu Jaminet (France) and the amateur pilots Daniel Alle- mann (Switzerland) and Ralf Bohn (Germany). An all-German driver lineup of Alfred and Robert Renauer, Jürgen Häring and Marc Lieb share driving duties in the sister car. Lieb is the reigning champion of the World Endurance Championship for Drivers, outright winner of the 2016 Le Mans 24-hour race and he climbed to the top of the podium at Spa in 2003. The 7.004-kilometre circuit of Spa-Francorchamps is known for its high centrifugal forces and legendary passages such as Eau Rouge and Blanchimont. After 3,824 kilometers, Jules Gounon/Christopher Haase/Markus Winkelhock had a winning advantage of 11.862 seconds. In a very balanced competition, four marques were battling for victory up until the end and ultimately claimed the top four positions. Audi Sport Team Saintéloc in its first factory-backed commitment with Audi Sport customer racing shone with a convincing performance. In the world’s toughest GT3 race, the number 25 Audi R8 LMS ran impeccably, its drivers having stayed clear of all trouble and ending the race without any sporting penalties. In the penultimate hour of the race, Christopher Haase chased leader Raffaele Marciello over several laps until the Italian pitted. Following his own final service and the stops of his rivals, the 29-year-old Audi Sport campaigner took the lead and went on to celebrate his first victory at Spa. For Jules Gounon from the South of France, this success marked the first one he has clinched in this race and together with Audi as well.

With third place overall in Phoenix Racing's Audi LMS R8 Marc Bronzel (Siek), Luca Ludwig (Roisdorf), Dennis Rostek (Porta Westfalica) and Markus Winkelhock (Berglen) presented the team with an unexpected surprise since this quartet did not even number among the favorites before the race started. The conservative and mechanically easy going driving style of the Phoenix squad, however, paid dividends: The Audi R8 LMS with start number 97 ran – apart from a small electronical problem during the opening stages – with the smallest technical problem. Of particular note was the performance of DTM driver Markus Winkelhock, who, after only landing a drive in the Phoenix team at the last moment, drove constantly fast lap times without any experience of the Nordschleife and in the closing stages convincingly defended the class lead.

Audi Sport Team Land gewinnt das 45. ADAC 24h-Rennen am Nürburgring 28.05.2017 - Nordschleife. Erster Gesamtsieg beim legendären 24h-Rennen für Land-Motorsport. Das Audi Sport Team Land schreibt in der 45. Auflage des Langstreckenklassikers einen neuen Eifelkrimi mit Happy End. Connor De Phillippi/Christopher Mies/Markus Winkelhock und Kelvin van der Linde verlieren 90 Minuten vor Schluss die Führung im Audi R8 LMS mit der Startnummer 29 und erobern sich in der letzten Runde ihre Spitzenposition zurück. Das Schwesterauto mit der Startnummer 28 (De Phillippi/Mies/Kaffer/Haase) muss das Rennen vorzeitig in der Box beenden. Mit einer Bestzeit für die Startnummer 29 (De Phillippi/Mies/Winkelhock/van der Linde) begann der Auftakt zum 45. ADAC 24h-Rennen beim Training am Donnerstag. Kelvin van der Linde war mit 8:19,066 der schnellste Pilot im Starterfeld. Die Startnummer 28 (De Phillippi/Mies/Haase/Kaffer) belegte mit einer 8:27.955 die achte Position. Im folgenden ersten Qualifying standen für das Team Audi Sport Team Land die Plätze 4 (#29) und 19 (#28) auf dem Zeitenmonitor. Zwölf Plätze waren noch für die Teilnahme am Top-30- Qualifying zu vergeben. Die Startnummer 28 hatte sich bereits im Qualifikationsrennen (22.- 23. April 2017) die blaue Lampe gesichert, mit der die 30 schnellsten Fahrzeuge im Starterfeld ausgestattet werden. Und auch die Startnummer 29 konnte sich mit einem sechsten Platz im kombinierten Qualifying-Ergebnis vor dem 24h-Rennen die blaue Lampe sichern. Die Startpositionen für das Einzelzeitfahren wurden traditionsgemäß wieder am Freitag ausgelost. Beim abendlichen Top-30-Qualifying im Sprint um die Pole-Position war Connor De Phillippi im Cockpit der Startnummer 29 lange Zeit mit seiner Rundenzeit von 8.16,102 Minuten führend, musste sich am Ende jedoch um 0,675 Sekunden denkbar knapp geschlagen geben.
