(June 16, 2021) – AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC), the largest theatrical exhibitor in the United States, in Europe & the Middle East and the world, is proud to present the first-ever “AMC Black Picture Showcase Celebrating Juneteenth” at select AMC theatres beginning Friday, June 18 through Thursday, June 24. Throughout the week, guests can enjoy a collection of classic, contemporary and culturally relevant, black-led films for $5, in honor Juneteenth—a holiday symbolizing a critical step towards freedom and liberty for all Americans through the abolishment of slavery in the United States. The “AMC Black Picture Showcase Celebrating Juneteenth” is a result of many substantial and systemic changes at AMC, beginning in the summer of 2020, to advance the Company’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. These efforts include an internal advisory council working on behalf of African American associates to strengthen AMC’s cultural awareness and overall DEI strategy, through the lens of the African American experience. “This is a proud and historic moment for AMC, that could not have happened without the influence of our African American associates who used their voices to underscore the importance of honoring Juneteenth as a bedrock of American history,” said Adam Aron, CEO and President of AMC Theatres, “This opportunity is a celebration of the impact and accomplishments of African Americans in cinema. It is nothing less than a privilege for AMC to showcase their extraordinary talent.” Showtimes vary by location and will be available starting Friday, June 18 through Thursday, June 24, at participating AMC theatres nationwide. The “AMC Black Picture Showcase Celebrating Juneteenth” lineup features seven films, celebrated in three categories: Black Changemakers Dates DO THE RIGHT THING June 18 HARRIET June 18, 23 Black Cinema THE WATER MAN June 19 FENCES June 19, 21 MOONLIGHT June 19, 24 Black Joy BARBERSHOP: THE NEXT CUT June 20 LOVE & BASKETBALL June 20, 22 Titles will also be available exclusively for Private Theatres Rentals at select AMC theatres, starting at $99. Having already opened more than 500 of our theatres elsewhere across the United States since August, AMC moviegoers have benefited from our having sought out third-party, nationally recognized experts in cleaning and public health & safety to advise us. A team led by Dr. Joseph Allen, a prominent member of the faculty of Harvard University’s prestigious School of Public Health, as well as our partnership with The Clorox Company, helped us to develop our comprehensive AMC Safe & Clean protocols. They feature social distancing & automatic seat blocking, mandatory mask wearing, the easy availability of disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer, along with high tech solutions like HEPA vacuums and enhanced air filtration through MERV 13 filters, as well as numerous other new safety, sanitization and cleanliness procedures. The entire AMC Safe & Clean plan can be found at amctheatres.com/amc-safe-and-clean. About AMC Entertainment Holdings, Inc.
