The Boston Classical Guitar Society welcomes acclaimed Chinese guitarist Xuefei Yang for a solo recital at the First Lutheran Church of Boston on March 9th at 8 p.m. The first guitarist in to enter a music conservatory and to launch an international career, she has performed in over forty countries and is one of the most popular classical guitarists online. Her Boston concert program includes works by Bach, Albeniz, Rodrigo, Chopin, Regondi, and Brouwer.

First Lutheran Church is located at 299 Berkeley Street, Boston, MA. The Boston Guitar Orchestra opens the concert with a prelude performance at 7:45 p.m. Tickets are $25 general admission and $20 for students and seniors, available at http://www.itsmyseat.com/bcgs.html and at the door. Following early acclaim after playing for the great Spanish composer Joaquin Rodrigo and guitar legend John Williams, Xuefei Yang studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London. She has given concerts at venues including London’s Wigmore Hall, New York’s Carnegie Hall, and ’s National Center of Performing Arts. In 2003, Xuefei Yang took part in a 54-concert “Night of the Proms” tour, playing for a total estimated audience of over 800,000 people.

In addition her solo career, Xuefei Yang often collaborates with leading musicians such as the Elias String Quartet, cellist Jian Wang, and tenor Ian Bostridge. She regularly performs as soloist with orchestras including the New Zealand, Detroit, Barcelona, and China National Philharmonic Orchestras. Xuefei Yang is a recording artist for EMI Classics.

The Boston Classical Guitar Society is a nonprofit organization that advocates for the classical guitar through performance, education, and community building.
