Reasoned Statements

(The number in brackets refers to the committee number in the list.)

The Revd Andrew Baker (47) is a former Mission Partner who served in Grenada. He is Chair of the Overseas Service group, an advisory group for staff dealing with mission personnel in different parts of the world. One important aspect of that work is to advise on the training and formation needs for new Mission Partners. Andrew’s presence on the SOCMS Advisory Council will further strengthen the lines of communication between advisers and practitioners. Mr John Bell (16) ex Vice-President of the Conference, Chair of the Stationing Review Group and has held many posts within the Church and brings a wide range of invaluable experience. Mr Geoff Bond (26) is a training officer for 2 districts: Birmingham and Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury. He has been in post since Sept '08. He was nominated to TSRE by his Regional Forum. His background is in social work, child protection, children, families work and management. Geoff was a manager for Young People's Services for Staffordshire and Stoke for many years and has been involved as a Trustee of several charities and also acted as a consultant to several social care organisations. The Revd Dr Adrian Burdon (47) is an ex-Mission Partner in Tonga, where he was principal of a theological college. He has been involved in theological training in Durham and has kept abreast of the different training courses that are on offer in different parts of the world. Adrian is also Chair of the Scholarship and Leadership Training group (now the ‘SALT grants’ stream’ in the Connexional Grants structures). Adrian will bring all this training expertise to the oversight of the work at SOCMS. Revd Stuart Burgess (42) Former President of Conference and former Chair of District of York and Hull served at a Trustee of MIC for 4 years before being appointed Chair (confirmed by Council of April 2009) in succession to Revd Nigel Cowgill Mrs Mathilda Byam (43) Extensive association with QVSR and wider Methodism; LP in neighbouring Circuit Mr John Cammack (19) John works as a freelance consultant and trainer in the third sector, offering advice in financial management and helping to build the capacity of NGO programmes worldwide. John was previously a senior lecturer in the Oxford Brookes University Business School and has also acted as Head of International Finance at Oxfam UK. Dr Helen Constigne (35) has been a lecturer in Christian Ethics at Heythrop College since 1995, teaching Business Ethics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Relevant qualifications include MA in History and Politics, Postgraduate Diploma in Pastoral Theology, MTh in Philosophy of Religion and Ethics, and PhD from Heythrop College. Her recent publications and current research interests include work on relating the incarnation to Business Ethics. Deacon Sue Culver (2) (4) (5) Warden – Methodist Diaconal Order - (2) joined so that the Diaconal perspective could be provided to the Medical Committee - (4) bringing experience of theological education, interfaith and community development; Ministry Resources Group Convener, F & O Network Ms Miriam Davies (44) is an Anglican with a strong interest in modern Christian Art. She is a professional librarian who works in a law firm and has various beneficial knowledge and skills.

Ms Anne Ellis (36) has an B.Sc honours degree in Mathematics and is currently nearing completion of an MA in Theology and Ministry as part of her pre-ordination training; Anne became interested in Feminist Theology and gender issues during the course of her studies. Over the past eighteen months she has been studying theories of gender in as an interpretive framework for her dissertation which focuses on the experiences of women in ordained ministry in the Methodist Church. Revd Jenny Ellis (30) part of the Prayer Handbook Resource Group because of her role as the Connexional Spirituality and Discipleship Officer Ms Chris Elliott (12) is Secretary for External Relationships, Connexional Team Mr John Emmett (26) is Director of Programmes and Research, Wesley College, Bristol. He is also the Bristol District Ecumenical Officer He was nominated to TSRE as a representative for the South and South West Regional Training Network. He brings relevant experience to TSRE as an Academic Tutor: Theology, Mission and Ministry, Circuit Minister and Ecumenical Officer Mrs Joy Fisher (30) is Publications Coordinator, Connexional Team. Revd David Gamble (39) a well-known Methodist who lives locally. He also brings links between Methodist Church House and the Trust which is seen as important to maintain. Mrs Rosemary Harrison (7) former Synod Secretary for York and Hull District, extensive experience of a variety of Connexional and local committees including Candidates Committee and Pastoral Oversight Committee as a lay representative. Revd Sonia Hicks (19) Sonia is a Methodist minister serving with the Methodist Church in Ireland. She is presently the convener of the World Development and Relief Committee, which oversees grants and projects for Irish Methodism. Ms Claire Holder (19) Having spent 13 years as Chief Executive of the Notting Hill Carnival, Claire has returned to practising Law as a Crown Prosecutor with the Crown Prosecution Service. Her involvement with the Methodist Church and various charities has led to visits on behalf of the Church to Zimbabwe, South Africa and the Caribbean. Louise Jones (39) was called to the Bar in 2004, and was appointed Junior Counsel to the Crown in 2008. Sh e lives in and is actively involved with her local Methodist church. Louise Jones also maintains the gender balance of the Trust and brings a younger view of our work which is beneficial. Mr Mike King (30) part of the Prayer Handbook Resource Group because of his position in the Connexional Team as the World Church Relationships Team Leader. Revd Rosa Leto (35) is the new Chair of the Chaplains Council Mrs Catherine Lewis (until 16 th is the World AIMS officer October 2009) (21) Revd Michael Long (43) Methodist minister; experience includes management of social projects and previous knowledge of QVSR Mr Chris Moorhouse (32) Chris has spent his career to date in the oil and energy sector and his experience is international. He was latterly Group Vice President, Human Resources for BP, heading a global team of 1800 Human Resource professionals responsible for 100,000 employees, and has also held a number of important posts in industry related bodies and government task forces. In June 2006 Chris was appointed Visiting Executive Professor at Henley Management College. He has served as a Trustee of the Institute of Business Ethics (IBE) since September 2005 and was appointed Chairperson in September 2006. Chris is a member of . Deacon Ian Murray (1) He was nominated by Sue Culver as a representative of the Diaconal Order, which we aim to have on the Committee. Revd Eric Mustapha (19) Following time spent as a minister in Sierra Leone and Germany, Eric Mustapha now works for Walworth Methodist Church in London. He is co-ordinator of the Association of Black Methodist Youth and is also currently pursuing a PhD in Development studies. Mr David Newton (39) has recently taken early retirement from Shell International Petroleum Company where he was involved in IT consultancy and leading to IT management globally. He lives in Muswell Hill and is a past Senior Steward at the local Methodist church and is treasurer of the church’s North Bank Redevelopment Project. Mr Paul Nowak (35) is a TUC representative Ms Elizabeth Ovey (41) Practising barrister; member of connexional Law and Polity Committee; circuit and church steward; previously Foundation Governor 1996-2003. Ms Geraldine Pearce (43) Wide-ranging professional involvement in management of the voluntary and charity sectors. Revd David Perry (37) David is Chair of the Lincoln and Grimsby District and can ably represent rural interest on the committee and chair the committee. His nomination is supported by the Chair’s Group Ms Primivera Quantrill (30) part of the Prayer Handbook Resource Group is a contracted Editor. Ms Carole Richmond (30) part of the Prayer Handbook Resource Group is an Editor, Methodist Publishing The Revd James N Tebbutt (15) is a qualified solicitor and has served in a range of Circuit and Chaplaincy appointments. Mr Timothy B Warren (15) is a partner in Pothecary Witham Weld, the Connexional solicitors. Revd Graham Thompson (52) (19) has been the Chair of the East Anglia District since 2003. He lives with his wife Alison and two sons in Norwich

Ms Helen Wareing (26) comes to TSRE as representative from Scotland Learning and Development Forum. Her job title is National Learning and Development Officer, Methodist Church in Scotland (0.8 fte). Mr Bob Williams (44) is a Methodist who has recently retired from a career in education. He has taken on the role of Secretary/Treasurer for the recently formed Friends group.
