TX 77726 Dear &@??r. eauli u: Thank you for your corporate sponsorship with Lamar Athletics. Your help this past year enabled Lamar to win three Southland Conference team championships and assisted in several outstanding individual accomplishments, including three student-athletes earning Southland Conference Player of the Year honors. Our baseball team dominated the Southland, winning the regular season title and advancing to the championship game of the NCAA Regional Tournament in Austin. The Cardinals defeated the NCAA National Champion Rice Owls twice during the season and finished the year ranked 22ndin the nation. On the links, our men's and women's golf teams both won conference championships. Chris Stroud, a senior-to-be from Groves, was named conference player of the year for the third straight year and finished third at the NCAA National Championships. Our current success would not be possible without the support we received fkom KFDM-TV Channel 6. Our goal is to be the best overall athletic program in the Southland Conference and be able to compete nationally in each of our 14 intercollegiate sports. For this goal to be realized, our athletic department must be financially secure and superior to our competing universities. Your corporate sponsorship will help us to retain the types of student-athletes and coaches that enable us to be conference champions. Thank you for your commitment to Lamar Athletics and for your generosity toward our vision to be the best. In the past year, we have seen an increase in the number of stations and airplays of our PSAs, and a corresponding increase in the number of phone calls to our toll-he meeting information number (1-888-4AL-ANON or 1-888-425-2666). Our operators provide meeting information for callers from throughout the United States and Canada. We appreciate your participation in helping us to cany our message to those who still suffer. For over 52 years Al-Anon Family Groups have been offering hope and support to those who are impacted by another person’s drinking. We do not seek outside funding, and have no dues or fees. Our only purpose is to help families and friends of alcoholics. Most communities have Al-Anon (and Alateen for younger members) groups; all are maintained by Al-Anon volunteers. It is through the support of community-minded organizations, such as your station, that we are able to make the public aware of our fellowship and the support it can offer. Again, it is with sincere gratitude that we say “thank you” for airing our “Corner” PSA. We will continue to provide you with quality public service announcements, and hope that you will continue to air them. We are delighted to include your station in our Al-Anon “family.” With all best wishes, Richard L. Box 7128 Beaumont, TX 77726-7128 Dear Larry, As you know, KVLU was awarded second place in the public service announcement category at the recent Press Club of Southeast Texas annual competition. As this was a joint project between KFDM and KVLU, I just wanted to thank you and your staff for helping us to make the PSA a reality by producing and airing it on Channel 6. In particular, credit must go to Gina Hinson and Maine mauve. Their professionalism, creative input, and enthusiasm for the project made it a winner. For KVLU to thrive, we must continue to raise awareness about public radio, and the PSA has met with great success. In return, we continue to acknowledge KFDM on our airwaves as an underwriter. Larry, it is partnerships such as the one we have established with KFDM that strengthen the mission of local public radio stations like KVLU. Again, please accept our thanks and gratitude for the generous support you and your staff have given us throughout our years of service. First, the commitment of time and talent that it takes to broadcast the Channel 6 Challenge in the fall is so much appreciated by ALL the area schools and their scholars. Were it not for this contest, the whiz kids would get very little exposure or limelight. I know that time and TV space for the show take much programming prepamtion, and that you could just as easily have another program during that 30 minutes, but I am so very gmteful that you are committed to sponsoring academic excellence. Second, thank you for the delicious banquet that you provide every year for all the Challenge contestants, their parents, and the coaches. The 8" floor of the librury is such an elegant setting, and the students always look forward to sharing that evening with their parents and their hosts every year. Thank you for ending the competition season on such a gracious note. I can speak for all the coaches, too, in saying thank you for the lovely centerpieces that you give to us each year. Last, but certainty not least, thank you for the most generous scholarship of $l,OOO for each student, including the alternate. This is such a magnanimous award, and the challenge students are so happy to have tangible proof that knowledge is per. The trophies are wonderful, too, and the large one for the school now resides in the trophy case in the front office next to two other Channel 6 Challenge trophies we have previously won. I look forward to another year of exciting academic challenge this fall. I have been with you from the start-16 years is it?-and I hope to continue as the Academic Team Coach for Bridge City High School for many more years. After thirty-two years in the classroom, I often think about retiring, but how can I leave the Challenge when it's so much fun for me and so profitable for my students? Most analyses of public radio listening examine the performance of individual stations within this large mix, the contributions of specific national programs, or aggregate numbers for the system as a whole. This report takes a different approach. Through an extensive, multi-year study of 228 stations that generate about 80% of public radio’s audience, we review patterns of listening to groups of stations categorized by the formats that they present. We find that stations that pursue different format strategies – news, classical, jazz, AAA, and the principal combinations of these – have experienced significantly different patterns of audience growth in recent years and important differences in key audience behaviors such as loyalty and time spent listening. This quantitative study complements qualitative research that the Station Resource Group, in partnership with Public Radio Program Directors, and others have pursued on the values and benefits listeners perceive in different formats and format combinations. Key findings of The Public Radio Format Study include: • In a time of relentless news cycles and a near abandonment of news by many commercial stations, public radio’s news and information stations have seen a 55% increase in their average audience from Spring 1999 to Fall 2004.

For centuries, it has linked the eastern and western regions of the Indian subcontinent, running from Bengal, across north India, into Peshawar, Pakistan. Horses, donkeys, and pedestrians compete with huge trucks, cars, motorcycles, rickshaws, and bicycles along the highway, a commercial route that is dotted with areas of activity right off the road: truck stops, farmer’s stands, bus stops, and all kinds of commercial activity.
