UH opens Rk School Record Prev. Rnk. the Classic on Th ursday, Sept. 1 against No. 22 Ohio State at 7:00 p.m. Th ey 1 California (31) 3-0 3 will then face No. 23 Long Beach State on Friday, Sept. 2, at 7:00 p.m. before 2 Penn State (11) 1-1 1 the tournament fi nale vs. No. 12 UCLA on Sunday, Sept. 4, at 5:00 p.m. Th e 3 Southern California (5) 1-1 2 ‘Bows opened the season last weekend hosting the Chevron Rainbow Wahine 4 Texas (9) 2-0 4 Invitational where they went 3-0 en route to their fourth straight tournament 5 Nebraska (1) 2-0 5 6 Stanford (1) 2-0 6 title. Kanani Danielson, Brittany Hewitt, and Emily Hartong were named to 7 Illinois 3-0 8 the all-tournament team, with Danielson selected Most Outstanding Player. 8 Washington 3-0 7 9 Florida 2-0 9 Hawai‘i in the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic - Th e Rainbow 10 Hawai’i (1) 2-0 10 Wahine will be hosting their 24th Classic, having hosted the tournament every 11 Minnesota 1-1 12 year beginning in 1988. It was held at both at War Memorial Gym on Maui 12 UCLA 3-0 11 and the Neal Blaisdell Center until 1995 when it landed at its present location 13 Purdue 3-0 13 in the Stan Sheriff Center. Lauren Duggins recorded 10 kills (.729 24 Michigan 3-0 24 attack %) and 11 digs and Kim Willoughby posted a match-high 18 kills. OSU 25 Florida State 3-0 30 is currently undefeated at 4-0. Th ey opened the season at the West Virginia Mountaineer Invitational where they defeated Valparaiso, New Hampshire, Bold indicates 2011 UH opponent Towson, and the host Mountaineers, all via sweeps. VOLLEYBALL MAGAZINE POLL (August 30) Facing the 49ers - UH and No. 23 Long Beach State have a long history in both the regular and postseason, but ironically the two teams will meet in the Rk School Record Prev.
