In this study, I examinedthe lived experiencesof women in Afghanistanunder the Talibanregime, as articulatedby ordinarywomen themselves.Data from 11 women were gatheredthrough the use of individual interviews,and analyzedusing Miles and Hubermans'(1994) analytic framework. Themes emerged that describedthe Taliban regime'spolicies regarding Afghan women,the overallresponses of women to the policies,including the impactof thosepolicies at the time (1996-2001),the ongoing impact,and the situationof women in the post-Talibanera. The Talibanregime's anti-women policies denied women education,employment, and freedomof movement.Those who committedany infractionswere met with severe punishment.The impact of thesepolicies led to variouspsychological effects, including: anxiety,fear, and synptoms of depressionand posttraumatic stress. Despite the condemnablerestrictions, Afghan women's agency,no matterhow limited, was present andcontinuously exercised on differentoccasions. In this paper, we describe a gameplay model which may be usedto elicit cognitive empathy as a part of anti-bullying program among schoolchildren. We interviewed 79 schoolchildren from four schools in order to find out their understanding of bullying and their play behavior, and we observed their play behaviorduring recess. We found that most schoolchildren in our study instinctively know that bullying is wrong because it hurt others but attributethe consequences to self as imposed by authorities as the reason why hurting others is wrong. We argue that, this shows that they demonstrate affective empathy but would benefit from cognitive empathy training. From our findings we came out with design guidelines and produced a bullying morality conceptual model, which then informed our gameplay model. To validate the gameplay model, we designed and tested an indoor physical computing game prototype that encourages player to collectively exercise their cognitive empathy. The results from our game testing shows that the game mechanics proposed in our gameplay model do encourage players to exercise the empathy.

    Introduction The 2012-2013 school year saw our first drop in participation in 6 years. We went from an all- time high of 55 clubs down to 54, the product of losing a couple of clubs before gaining one. Additionally, our participation numbers reflected this slight downward trend. This was perhaps the only area though where we saw regression. Our clubs continue to perform at the levels we have become accustomed to and events per club continue to increase yearly. Our biggest areas of growth though were on the marketing and programming fronts. Under the guidance of our Club Sports Council and dedicated marketing team we hosted two successful events in the form of dodgeball and broomball tournaments bringing a diverse range of clubs together in spirited competition and community building. Proceeds from the events were put towards Hurricane Sandy relief and the continuation of our Carbon Off-Set Initiative. Additionally our outreach through digital and social media outlets continues to grow. The following report includes a snapshot of Club Sports this past academic year. In addition to statistics surrounding participation, a brief assessment of our marketing and programming efforts is included. We did not assess leadership outcomes this year as we participated in the Student Life initiative exploring them on a larger scale. A discussion of emerging trends and a list of or club’s numerous accomplishments concludes the report.
