  • Vermont Agency of Education Child Nutrition Programs Free and Reduced Eligibility for Fiscal Year 2014
VERMONT AGENCY OF EDUCATION Child Nutrition Programs Annual Statistical Report Percent of Students Eligible for Free and Reduced Price School Meals School Year 2013 – 2014 Introduction Free and reduced price meal eligibility data is reported by each school food authority/Supervisory Union annually. A school food authority is a school or school district that is responsible for operating a School Lunch Program and/or a School Breakfast Program. Some schools are included in a school food authority even though they are separate school districts. The eligibility numbers and enrollment figures are for October of the current school year, as reported on the school’s October Claim for Reimbursement. For the purposes of the National School Lunch Program, “eligible” means that a student has submitted an application and been certified as qualifying for free or reduced price benefits based on the Family Size and Income Guidelines published by the United States Department of Agriculture. To be eligible for free meals a family’s income must be at or below 130% of the Federal poverty line. Families whose income falls between 130% and 185% of the federal poverty line qualify for reduced price meals. Eligibility determinations are made at the local level by the food service director, principal, or other person designated by the school administration. The report for 2013-2014 uses the Child Nutrition Programs on-line reporting system. The system has calculated the information for all schools in the system, even those that do not participate in the school lunch program. If a school participates only in the Special Milk Program or only the School Breakfast Program, the report shows only zeros.

  • U.S. DEPARTMENT of HOMELAND SECURITY July 29, 2003 ICE
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY BUREAU OF IMMIGRATION AND CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT (ICE) July 29, 2003 ICE PREPARES U.S. SCHOOLS AND FOREIGN STUDENTS FOR AUGUST 1, 2003 SEVIS DEADLINE New steps to help legitimate foreign students while preserving security WASHINGTON, DC— The Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) today announced that it is taking new steps to help law-abiding foreign students, as well as U.S. educational institutions, comply with the August 1, 2003 filing deadline for the Student Exchange Visitor and Information System (SEVIS). SEVIS is a government, computerized system that maintains and manages data about foreign students and exchange visitors during their stay in this country. For more than 50 years, U.S. educational institutions have been required to maintain such information about foreign students studying at their facilities. In the past, this was a decentralized, inefficient, and paper-driven system. SEVIS, for the first time, automates and centralizes this system. SEVIS allows for real-time access to this information and helps students comply with the terms of their visas. Congress mandated that August 1, 2003 be the deadline for U.S. educational institutions with a foreign student population to be certified participants in SEVIS and have information about these current foreign students entered into SEVIS. To date, 5,937 U.S. schools have complied with this deadline and become SEVIS-certified, enabling them to accept foreign students. ICE applauds these schools for meeting this deadline. However, there are still more than 600 U.S. schools that have yet to file applications, or have filed applications late in the process and therefore may not meet the deadline.

  • School Based Covid-19 Transmission Document
COVID-19 Cases in Vermont K-12 Learning Communities While Infectious September 26, 2021 Data are preliminary and subject to change. What’s included in the table? The table reflects when someone with COVID-19 was at a K-12 learning community location while infectious, which means there were opportunities to spread the virus to others in the learning community. • Cases confirmed by PCR test and probable cases. • The infectious period is when the person with COVID-19 is contagious. It starts two days before symptoms began and continues until they are recovered. For people who haven't had symptoms, the infectious period starts two days before they had a positive test. • Cases reported from August 23, 2021 through the date above. • Locations include school grounds, at a school organized or sanctioned event (e.g. sporting events), or other places related to school operations (e.g. bus rides). • Cases include members of the school community, like staff, students, faculty, bus drivers, and kitchen staff. • These counts represent cases by school, not by individual. For example, if someone works at or attends more than one school, they will be counted under each school if it was determined through contact tracing that the person was in both locations during their infectious period. • Vermont residents and schools physically located within Vermont. What’s not included in the table? People in the learning community with COVID-19 who were not at school during their infectious period are NOT included. In these cases, someone may have been exposed to the virus either in or outside of school, but there would NOT have been an opportunity to spread the virus to other people in the learning community.
