Design work for the CN Rail crossing in phase 1 proceeded and construction is anticipated to be complete by late 2014 or early 2015. The wetland boardwalks in phase 2 were constructed and the connecting pathways will be complete in 2014. Construction of phase 3, the final phase of the Greenway, began in the fall of 2013. The Aspen Link (Sarcee Trail) section will be complete in 2014. With 39 kilometers of existing pathway in phase 3, manufacturing of the directional signage and seating nodes began and will be installed in 2014. Having Calgary’s Rotary Clubs and Mattamy Homes partner as naming sponsors of the Greenway was a significant contributing factor to the project’s success. A large Rotary/Mattamy Greenway cairn was unveiled at the event announcing the partnership. Next year holds many challenges as well as countless opportunities for success for the Rotary/ Mattamy Greenway. Design development will continue for Airport Trail as well as the Inland Field pathways, both of which are expected to be tendered and awarded in 2014 for 2015 construction. There will also be continued development, promotion and planning of pathway amenities and in- kind construction by our developer partners. 8 | ROTARY/MATTAMY GREENWAY ROTARY/MATTAMY GREENWAY PATHWAY CONSTRUCTION | 9 BIO-ENERGY PARK A master plan was completed for the Bio-Energy Park project. This world-class research and public education park would test biological processes in the remediation of contaminated land and water. The development of an innovative park concept
