Lauren Cognigni enters her third season as an assistant coach at Pitt, primarily working with the Panthers’ pitching staff while assisting with recruiting and scouting efforts. Under the guidance of Cognigni, Pitt’s presence on the mound has drastically improved and is making history as she has led her in the program’s first ACC and NCAA tournament appearances and aided in Pitt’ first perfect game in program history.

2016 • Assistant Coach • University of Pittsburgh • Helped coach Pitt to a 31-21 overall record, marking the second consecutive season where the Panthers have won 30-plus games. • Guided Pitt to its second ACC Tournament appearance in back-to-back years. • Aided in the development of freshman pitcher Sarah Dawson, who tossed Pitt’s first perfect game in program history in a 13-0, five-inning win over Providence (2/27). • Coached pitching staff from a 4.05 ERA to a 3.86 ERA. • Helped Kayla Harris improve from a 3.79 ERA in 2015 to a 3.40 ERA in 2016.

2015 • Assistant Coach • University of Pittsburgh • Pitt earned its first NCAA Tournament invitation in program history and advanced to the regional final. • In the Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Championship, the Panthers defeated higher seeds Notre Dame and North Carolina on their run to the ACC title game. It was Pitt’s 2008-2009 • Assistant Coach • St. Joseph’s University first conference tournament championship game appearance in program history. • Acted as the first base coach • Pitt finished with a 37-22 record, the winningest season in school history. • Helped lead team to finish second in the Atlantic 10 conference • Named as the 2015 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Region Coach- ing Staff of the Year. 2007-2009 • Assistant Coach • New Jersey Breakers • Helped Savannah King (pitcher) improve from a 4.49 ERA in 2014 to a 3.23 ERA in 2015. • Qualified and competed at Gold Nationals in Oklahoma City Coached pitching staff from a 4.66 ERA to a 4.05 ERA. • Led pitcher Savannah King to a First Team NFCA All-Region selection.
