Michael Edward Haymond, 57, was captured by US Marshals near Augusta, on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Haymond was a fugitive suspected sex offender wanted by authorities in Front Royal, Va and had been the subject of a large manhunt by local law enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Service. Haymond was wanted for two counts of rape of girls under the age of 13. In the early morning hours of Nov. 20, Haymond’s black Saturn Vue was found in the Clifford Hollow Scenic Overlook parking lot on Route 48 near Moore- field, with license plates removed. The investigation led to Haymond’s arrest 25 miles north of where his vehicle was found. The Hardy County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank everyone for their tips and watchful eyes over the past few days.
