WWW.LOUISIANASHOWCASE.COM WHY Showcase? It’s all about the students The idea for The Louisiana Showcase of Marching Bands State Championship came from Lafayette Music Company in 1989 as a way to “showcase” the great talent of our bands in Louisiana and as a way for Lafayette Music Company to give back to the community.

Every band a “winner” Local Band Directors overwhelmingly said, “We want a Premier Contest/Festival in our state and not just another festival.” Lafayette Music Company listened, and “Showcase” was designed as a Contest/Festival with the hopes of every band being a “winner!”

The first “Showcase” was held in 1990 with 25 bands performing and has since grown to 35 participating bands with Top 10 Finals competition following prelims.

Supporting music education There is no entry fee for a band to participate in “Showcase” and proceeds from this event directly benefit music students at UL Lafayette through endowed scholarships. Today’s participating bands also recieve funds raised from this competition.

Over One Million Dollars Your attendance and contributions for the past 29 years have helped put over $1,000,000 toward sustaining and improving music education in our schools.

Your support makes a difference! THANK YOU
