Programme Information

Programme Details The Core Psychiatry training programme is a 3 year programme, starting at CT1.

During the 3-year programme, the trainee's work will be monitored for satisfactory progress and subject to annual reviews in the form of ARCPs. Progression on the programme will be dependent upon these reviews.

Clinical care will be delivered at a range of sites requiring trainees to travel effectively and efficiently to, for example: Trust sites, patients’ homes, police stations, clinics and other associated sites. Travel costs from base location to other sites will be reimbursed at business mileage rates for valid insured drivers/vehicles, and journeys using all forms of public transport (including taxis) will be reimbursed at the public transport rate. The posts on this rotation have been approved for Specialist Training by the GMC & RCPsych. The programme is designed to equip the trainee for Higher Specialist Training in their chosen specialty. The Postgraduate Dean has confirmed that this post has the necessary educational and staffing approvals. The programme is based in several different Trusts throughout Health Education England - Thames Valley, and trainees may find themselves in any of the following locations:

* Please note that placements in Milton Keynes from August 2019 will attract a salary uplift of £750 per month to aid recruitment/retention

Expected Rotation 6 x 6 month placements. The CT1 year usually consists of 6 months in Old Age Information (+ Psychiatry and 6 months in General Adult Psychiatry. The CT1year is likely to be exceptions) spent at sites in the same Trust. CT1 allocations will be decided by Oriel subpreferencing process; CT2 and CT3 placements are decided by annual preference exercise.
