SPOKANE, • To that vast monument of man's increasing skill and power and upon which the future progress of Spokane and the Inland Empire will greatly de- pend — The Grand Coulee Dam —the staff of the 1988 Treasure Chest dedicates this book. Justly named the "Eighth Wonder of the World,'' the Dam stands as an excellent example of the results of modern education. As the world moves forward, education will con tinue to be the power behind the seem s of con- struction work, medical and scientific research, and the many other achievements of mankind. With our vision concentrated on the future and

its opportunities for the scholars of today, we offer this book as a tribute to the ever forward march of education.

• Paying one last tribute to their Alma Mater, the January graduating class presented the play. "Why John R. Rogers?" January 27. The character of John Rankin Rogers was played by Glenden Hobbs. Forever in the minds of the students of Rogers will remain the memory of the man who did so much for the lesser privileged children of Washington. The scene- "The Little Red School House" was typical of what occurred in the schools of Rogers' time. Enacted in true political style was the legislative scene during which the famous "Hare-foot Hoy" hill was passed. Under the supervision of Ray (i. Hubbard, the play was written and pro- duced by the special English class. Dr. Frederick Fischer of the school board presented the diplomas.
