Historical Note The Center for Pacific Northwest Studies pamphlet collection is an artificial collection used to house individual-item accessions from a number of different donors. Materials have accumulated from sources including individuals from the local and regional communities and governments, service providers and clubs of Whatcom County, Western Washington University, as well as the Whatcom Museum of History and Art. Arranged by subject, these documents were produced by both governmental and private institutions and include official demographic studies and Census Bureau reports, statistical reports and promotional brochures on economic industries, government reports and studies on state-operated institutions and services, publications generated by both private and governmental cultural institutions, academic studies and tourist brochures about Native Americans, articles and studies from journals and magazines, institutional newsletters, and reference works. Low-relief rocky meadows and modest forested ridges marked by scattered cinder cones and shields are common landforms in Simcoe Mountains volcanic field. Mount Adams (elevation: 12,276 ft; 3,742 m) is centered 50 km west and 2.8 km higher than foreground meadow (elevation: 2,950 ft.; 900 m); its eruptions began ~520 ka, its upper cone was built in late Pleistocene, and several eruptions have taken place in the Holocene. Now in its 20th year, the Bellingham Human Rights Film Festival continues to be an opportunity for becoming more knowledgeable and actively engaged. During that time, we have presented hundreds of films – free of charge – in venues county-wide. These encompass a range of critical issues, including harms to environment, challenges facing poor or marginalized people, and activism of youth, women, those on the move, and indigenous communities. We have provided over 250 of these films to local libraries, and invite everyone to visit our website to see their availability as well as lineups for each year of our festival: [email protected]. This year, we offer 30 films, depicting ordinary people acting justly and courageously, alternatives to dominant or destructive global interests, and exemplary models for strengthening human rights and healthy, interconnected communities.
