Foreman Mark Gray Paul McTear David Poltrack Excellence in Broadcasting Award Recipient Bill Clark Benefactor: The Mays Family Foundation Broadcasters Foundation of America Leadership Awards Bobby Caldwell Bobby began his career as a radio announcer at KASU-FM in 1968, and in 1969, he started working with KWYN-AM/FM, Wynne, as a part-time staff announcer. After graduating with a Radio-TV degree from Arkansas State University in 1970, he started in the Sales Department at KWYN-AM/FM, and in 1973, he became Vice- President and General Manager of East Arkansas Broadcasters, Inc. He is the Owner/CEO of East Arkansas Broadcasters, and through various companies, owns and operates 50 radio signals in the state of Arkansas plus the Red Wolves/EAB Radio Network, EAB Ag Network, and flagship stations. Bobby has served the Arkansas Broadcasters Association (ABA) in various offices, including President, and is the current long-time NCSA chair for the state. He was presented the Association’s Silver Mic Award in 2000. He is a former National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Radio Board Member representing both Arkansas and Tennessee, a former board chairman of NAB’s Small-Medium Market Radio Committee and has completed NAB’s Executive Development Program for Radio at the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. Bobby is very active in his community – service as a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank of Wynne, President’s Partnership, a member of the Chancellor’s Cabinet, and a past member of the Development Board, College of Media and Communications at Arkansas State University. He has also served on past boards for Arkansas State University Foundation and the Cross County Hospital as Chairman, Alumni Association of Arkansas State University, Wynne Rotary Club, Wynne Industrial Development, and the Wynne Chamber of Commerce. Bobby was voted 1989 Outstanding Rotarian. He and his wife of 49 years, the former Peggy Raley, also an ASU graduate, have one son, Bradford, a 3rd generation broadcaster. Broadcasters Foundation of America Leadership Awards Jean Dietze Jean Dietze is President, Affiliate Relations, NBC Broadcasting, a position she has held since 2015. Dietze serves as the network’s chief liaison with its affiliated stations nationwide. Before her elevation to President, Dietze was appointed Executive Vice President, Affiliate Relations when Comcast purchased NBCU in 2011. Previously she was Senior Vice President of Affiliate Relations from 2009 and served as Vice President of the team from 1992. Dietze has spent her entire professional career at NBC starting as a secretary in the sales department in 1973 before moving to the Sales Service area when the company was owned by RCA. Under General Electric’s ownership of NBC she served as Vice President, TV Network Services until 1992. She was responsible for the tracking and servicing of station clearances, sales inventory and advertiser billing. Dietze is a graduate of Fordham University in the Bronx. She lives in Ramsey, NJ, with her husband of 44 years, Carl. She is the mother of Michael who works for NBC Sports in Stamford, CT, and of Carl Jr., who was a police officer in Washington, D.C., and tragically passed away in 2007 at the age of 25. Upon retirement from NBC this year, Dietze plans on expanding her involvement with the Shriners Hospitals for Children and with the Salesians of Don Bosco. Experiences range from on-air morning announcer to executive and senior management positions with Sudbrink Broadcasting (WLIF Baltimore), General Electric Broadcasting, and The American Broadcasting Companies as Vice President Programming at ABC's Radio Networks in New York from 1978 through 1981. Foreman has a broad history of involvement in broadcast operations, spanning over 50 years. His experience ranges from on- air morning announcer to executive and senior management positions with Sudbrink Broadcasting (WLIF Baltimore) and General Electric Broadcasting. Foreman served Harte-Hanks Broadcasting as a corporate director of stations in Houston, Phoenix, Raleigh-Durham and Memphis and as Vice President of Programming at ABC’s Radio Networks in New York from 1978 through 1981. In 1981 Richard A. Foreman Associates Inc. was founded and since that time has been involved extensively in media brokerage and consulting. The Company specializes in cash positive communications properties in major growth markets and has served a number of major broadcasters in the acquisition and divestiture of broadcast facilities, with his firm generally ranking among the top 20 media brokers in the country. In addition to broadcasting, Foreman is also involved in specialized mobile radio transactions, in the past representing such regional bell operating companies as PACTEL communications and NYNEX. Foreman has engineered a number of interesting media transactions, such as the 1988 swap involving radio stations held by Viacom Broadcasting and Keymarket Communications, the largest radio media exchange to that time; the first radio duopoly involving two publicly held companies (ABC/Jefferson Pilot) in 1994; and the engineering of the first de-asterisking of a public television station (WQEX) in 1999. Since its inception, Foreman Associates has closed media transactions in excess of $2.25 billion dollars. In recent years, through his digital company RAFAMEDIA, Foreman has been involved in several digital projects, including arranging the sale of DG Media equity to Entercom in 2017 and making a major equity investment in Inoventiv, Canada and its award-winning advertising digital technology - SnappSearch.com. In 1994 Foreman was elected Vice President of the National Association of Media Brokers, representing over 70 member firms involved in the business of media transactions. In 1996 Foreman was nominated a Director of the Broadcasters Foundation of America has been instrumental in the renaissance of the broadcast industry’s sole benevolent organization. Frequently quoted in numerous media publications, Foreman was honored as a “Fifth Estater’’ in Broadcasting & Cable Magazine and was also highlighted by the editor of Radio & Records in a Publisher’s Profile. Broadcasters Foundation of America Leadership Awards Mark Gray Mark Gray is Chief Executive Officer of Katz Media Group, the nation’s largest media representation company specializing in audio and video advertising solutions. Mark has been a leader in the media industry for more than 30 years, building a first-class sales organization that drives results for its broadcast partners and the nation’s top brands. As CEO, Mark oversees Katz’s radio, television and digital companies. His primary focus is to lead Katz’s team of industry experts to deliver innovative ideas for advertisers and agencies; drive revenue for Katz’s partners; and continue to develop Katz’s technology and digital offerings, including bringing Katz to the forefront of the programmatic buying arena. During his tenure, Mark has served in various capacities with Katz, including General Sales Manager and President of the Katz Radio division before being promoted to President of Katz Radio Group in 2006. Mark was named Chief Executive Officer of Katz Media Group in 2017. Radio Ink has named Mark one of the “Most Powerful People in Radio” for eight consecutive years. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Broadcasters Foundation of America; a board member of the Radio Advertising Bureau; and an Honorary Trustee for the Alliance for Women in Media. Mark resides in Armonk, New York with his wife Monica and their three sons: Cooper, Tyler and Hudson. McTear joined Raycom in 1997 as it was being formed as an investment of the Retirement Systems of Alabama. He joined the company as the Chief Financial Officer and was promoted to President and CEO in 2001. During his 20 years at Raycom, the company expanded its ownership to 48 television stations and acquired Raycom Sports. Raycom also diversified its business with the purchase of Tupelo Honey, WebStream Sports and RTM Studios. These companies produce programming for over the air and streaming. McTear was previously with the Providence Journal Company for 20 years where he was Vice President of Finance and Corporate Development for the Broadcast and Cable Division. While at the Providence Journal, he was instrumental in the launch of two cable networks, Television Food Network and America’s Health Network. McTear has served on the CBS, NBC and Fox Affiliate Boards, the NAB Board, Bounce TV Board, and continues to serve on the Board of Hope for the Warriors, a non-profit helping veterans and their families, and the Board of Directors of Gray Television. A native of Philadelphia, where he graduated from Drexel University, Paul and his wife Denise have been married 46 years and have four sons and six grandchildren.
