Fred Mcleod TV Studio & Fred McLeod TV Studio & Media Workroom Media Workroom The Cavaliers organization named the combined television studio and media workroom space at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse the “Fred McLeod TV Studio & Media Workroom” on September 18, 2019 in honor of the team’s beloved 14-year play-by-play television announcer, who passed away unexpectedly on September 9, 2019. Given the indelible impact and legacy of Fred McLeod, and how he touched so many across the media and fan community, as well as the team he loved, the Fred McLeod TV Studio & Media Workroom serves as a lasting tribute to someone that was universally admired, respected and appreciated as a fellow media member and willing mentor to a countless number across the industry. Before and after every Cavaliers home game, home and visiting team media members gather in the television studio and media workroom space on the event level of Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to hear from, and interview, the Cavaliers . The space is also used for many other media events and reporting elements throughout the year by attending media covering games and events for newspapers, magazines, television, radio, websites and other digital platforms, as they write and file their respective stories and coverage inside the walls of this important area. A Strongsville, native, Fred served as the television voice of the Cavs since joining the team and Ohio in 2006. His NBA broadcasting career spanned 36 seasons, having spent 22 seasons with the , in addition to 14 overall with the Cavs (1979- 80; 2006-19). The multi-regional Emmy Award winner called more than 1,000 games during his time with the Wine and Gold. His diverse and extensive sports broadcasting career also included time in the NFL (Detroit Lions) and MLB ( Indians and Detroit Tigers), as well as local television sports reporting and anchoring in multiple cities, including Cleveland and Detroit. Fred was one of the most accomplished and respected announcers in the NBA and all of sports and was known for his love, passion and enthusiasm for his hometown Cavs and Cleveland. He was friendly and welcoming to all his fellow media colleagues, regardless of experience or outlet they represented, including up-and-comers who sought advice from him and appreciated his willingness to spend time supporting them. Fred made a lasting impression, so it is fitting that he will have this permanent space dedicated to his memory. In connection with the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse transformation project, the state-of-the- art TV studio and media workroom space was recently re-designed, expanded and updated for optimal use, media support, technology and efficiency.

406 // Radio Network 2020-21 Cleveland Cavaliers Radio Network Cleveland Cavaliers fans will be able to follow the club all season long on the 25-station, Cavaliers Radio Network. All 72 regular season games, as well as the four preseason games and all potential playoff games will be aired live. Fans can also listen online by logging onto NBA.com and signing up for NBA Audio League Pass, through TuneIn Radio, or on any mobile device by downloading the Cavs App. The stations for Cavaliers are 50,000-watt News Radio WTAM 1100 and FM 100.7 WMMS, Cleveland’s Rock Station. Returning as the Akron outlet for the 29th season is AM 1590 WAKR. Tim Alcorn will join the radio booth for his second season as play-by-play announcer and will be joined by Cavalier Legend Jim Chones, who will be back for his 11th season as color analyst. Returning for his 29th year is studio host Mike Snyder, who will anchor all pregame, halftime and postgame shows. Former OSU great and NBA player Brad Sellers is back for his 10th year as postgame studio analyst. Each broadcast on the Cavaliers Radio Network begins with “Huntington Tip-Off Show,” an inside look at the upcoming game. Hosted by Snyder, the show airs 30 minutes prior to game time. It is a comprehensive look at what is happening around the NBA, including interviews, highlights, game reports, injury updates and a preview of the Cavaliers game with Tim Alcorn while Jim Chones provides his Keys to the Game. Following each game broadcast, fans can participate in the “Tito’s Nightcap Recap” postgame call-in show. Snyder will be joined by Chones and Sellers to provide game analysis and review the stats and highlights. Fans will hear comments from players in both locker rooms, Coach Bickerstaff’s postgame press conference, news from other games around the league, as well as comments from Cavaliers fans everywhere. 409 // CLEVELAND CAVALIERS 410 // CLEVELAND CAVALIERS John Michael Television Play-By-Play Broadcaster John Michael John Michael enters his second season as the television play-by-play broadcaster for FOX Sports Ohio after spending the previous eight seasons as the team’s radio play-by- play broadcaster. Michael also hosts Cavs HQ, the Cavaliers flagship television show, is regular contributor to Cavaliers Live pre- and postgame shows on FOX Sports Ohio and provides fans behind-the-scenes access via social media. In 2015, Michael represented the Cavaliers’ organization by moderating the esteemed Cuyahoga Community College Presidential Luncheon alongside . In addition, Michael made numerous SportsCenter appearances and had regular spots on other television networks including NBATV during the Cavs’ playoff runs from 2015-18. Michael has well over a decade of pro sports play-by-play experience. He previously worked with the NHL’s on FOX Sports Ohio as the television game host, in-game reporter, and contributor to the pregame and postgame shows. Prior to joining the Jackets, Michael was the inaugural “Voice of the Lake Erie Monsters” here in Cleveland. Earlier in his career, Michael gained valuable play-by-play experience with the MSA Sports Network in , hosting sports talk shows and broadcasting a variety of sports, including , football, hockey, basketball, and soccer. Previously, Michael spent two seasons as the radio voice of the AHL’s Springfield Falcons and two seasons with the ECHL’s Johnstown Chiefs. Following his final campaign with the Chiefs, the Aliquippa, Pennsylvania native was named the 2004-05 ECHL Broadcaster of the Year. The honor capped a tremendous campaign for Michael in which he had been chosen to broadcast the 2005 ECHL All-Star Game for NHL Radio. Michael has also served as a radio broadcaster for baseball’s Hagerstown Suns, a then-minor league affiliate of the Giants, in 2003. Additionally, he has taught as an Adjunct Professor of Broadcasting at Springfield College in , where the game of basketball was invented. In summer 2019, Michael was honored by being inducted into Western Pennsylvania’s Beaver County Sports Hall of Fame. Michael’s fellow inductees include the NBA’s Pete Maravich and Brad Davis, along with ’ skipper and his father, Tito. Prior to embarking on his broadcasting career, Michael earned a law degree, an MBA degree, and a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Notre Dame, all with cum laude honors, in an eight-year span. Following graduation from law school in 1998, he joined the prestigious law firm of Kirkpatrick & Lockhart (now K&L Gates). There, he practiced law full time as a trial attorney specializing in construction law for over four years before embarking upon his broadcasting career.

411 // CLEVELAND CAVALIERS Austin Carr Austin Carr TV Color Analyst/Pregame Host Director of Community and Business Development “Mr. Cavalier” Austin Carr begins his 23rd season as a TV color analyst for the Cleveland Cavaliers on FOX Sports Ohio. Carr joins play-by-play broadcaster John Michael to provide insight and analysis during all Cavs games from Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and every other arena around the NBA. After a standout career with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 1971-80, Carr rejoined the team in the front office in June 1991 as the Director of Community and Business Development. He is responsible for generating new business from corporations with a particular focus on smaller companies and minority organizations. Beginning in 1997, Carr became the full-time color analyst for the team’s telecasts on WUAB and the Cavaliers Television Network. Carr played the first nine of 10 seasons in the NBA with Cleveland before stints with Washington and Dallas. He ranks second among the Cavaliers’ all-time leaders in field goals made (4,272) and field goals attempted (9,480). Carr is fourth on the Cavaliers’ all-time list in scoring (10,265), sixth in games played (635) and sixth in minutes played (19,003). Carr was the first player chosen in the 1971 NBA Draft following a brilliant college career at Notre Dame, where he averaged a school-record 34.6 points per game and was a two-time All-American. The 1971 National Player of the Year currently holds the record for most points in an NCAA tournament game (61), NCAA tournament points per game average (41.3) and was elected to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2007. After being inducted into the Irish’s Ring of Honor, the lower concourse of the Notre Dame’s Purcell Pavilion was renamed the Austin Carr Concourse in 2011. Carr was named to the NBA All-Rookie Team in 1972 and later represented Cleveland in the 1974 NBA All-Star Game. He was further honored when his number (34) was retired by the Cavaliers on January 3, 1981. In addition, Carr was selected to the Cavaliers’ All-Time Starting Five as voted on by 32 members of the media in Northeast Ohio and the Cavaliers’ All-Time Team as selected by the fans. The All-Time Starting Five and All-Time Team selected in conjunction with the Cavaliers 30th Anniversary season of 1999-2000. Always active in community affairs, Carr won the Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award after the 1979-80 season, an award which recognizes an NBA player or coach who makes substantial contributions to his community. He continues his charitable activities with the Alzheimer’s Association of Cleveland, the March of Dimes and the for Prevention of Domestic Violence. He is a board member of Y.O.U. (Youth Opportunity Unlimited) and hosts a golf tournament to fundraising efforts for the organization, in addition to making numerous speaking engagements to youth groups. Carr is also a regular contributor to Cavs HQ, making numerous public appearances where he talks with Cavs fans all over the community. Carr recently celebrated 35 years of service as a member of the Cavaliers. A single-digit handicap golfer, Carr is the proud parent of Jason and Ashley, and grandfather to Austin and Aubre Rodriguez.

412 // CLEVELAND CAVALIERS Angel Gray Angel Gray FOX Sports Ohio Sideline Reporter Angel Gray begins her third season as the sideline reporter for FOX Sports Ohio’s Cavaliers telecasts. Gray has over 10 years of experience as a sports analyst and sideline reporter, and has also served as the play-by-play announcer for the WNBA’s Sparks on Spectrum . Gray has additional broadcasting experience in college basketball, the WNBA and NCAA football, and has covered the NCAA women’s basketball tournament, the WNBA Finals and the WNBA All-Star Game for NBATV. Gray’s career in broadcasting started with her internship with Fox Sports /Sun Sports in Orlando as a Production Assistant as part of the ACC Post- Graduate Program. Prior to joining the Cavaliers, she served as FOX Sports Southeast’s sideline reporter for the WNBA’s Atlanta Dream, a role she had held since July 2015, and additionally worked as the Dream TV reporter from June 2014-May 2017. Gray has also held various reporting jobs including her role with ESPN as an analyst for women’s college basketball, UCLA as a color commentator for women’s basketball, Sun Sports/ FOX Sports Florida as the reporter for Florida State University basketball, the ACC Network/ and the SEC Network. She also spent two years as a writer for SLAM Magazine and SLAM.com, covering WNBA and women’s college basketball. Gray has contributed as a studio analyst for CBS Sports and was the first woman to cover men’s basketball as an analyst for Network. Beyond the court, she contributes as a moderator for A Step Up, a seminar that encourages professional development in the sports management industry for all levels of coaches. A native, Gray graduated from Florida State University in 2010 with a degree in communications and social science. She was a four-year letter winner for the Seminoles’ varsity women’s basketball team, where she helped her team earn two regular season ACC championships, four NCAA tournament appearances, two Sweet 16 berths and one Elite 8 appearance. Gray was also a member of the student-athlete advisory committee and Women in Leadership Development while a student at FSU. Prior to her career with the Seminoles, Gray attended Stone Mountain High School, where she still holds the scoring record. Gray’s parents are Robert and Cherri Gray. She is one of six siblings, who all played sports. Gray now considers herself a house divided, rooting for Cleveland and Atlanta sports. She also enjoys the diversity and different styles of cuisine around the Cleveland area.

Jeff Phelps FOX Sports Ohio Host/Reporter Jeff Phelps begins his 18th season as the co-host of “Cavaliers Live,” the Cavaliers pregame and postgame shows on FOX Sports Ohio. During the day, Phelps is co-host of the mid-day show, “Baskin & Phelps,” on Cleveland sports station 92.3 The Fan. In addition, Phelps is the halftime and postgame host of the Radio Network, and did play-by-play for Browns games during the 2014 preseason. Along with his hosting work on Cavalier telecasts, Phelps has performed a variety Jeff Phelps of other duties with FOX Sports Ohio, including sideline reporting on Cavalier telecasts, play-by-play of Mid- American Conference football and basketball games, play-by-play of Thursday Night High School Football, hosting Cleveland Indians pregame and postgame shows and hosting Ohio State football and Mid-American Conference programming. Phelps was also the producer and host of the classic car television show “Cruise-In” for three seasons on FOX Sports Ohio. Prior to joining FOX Sports Ohio in 2003, Phelps spent 15 years with WUAB-TV and WOIO-TV in Cleveland as a sports anchor-reporter. He began his career in sports broadcasting at WAKR-TV/Radio in Akron before moving on to KJAC-TV in Beaumont, Texas, where he served as a sports anchor-reporter for five years. A three-time Emmy award-winner for sports reporting, Phelps was named Ohio Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association in 1994. He was a 2007 inductee into the Radio/Television Broadcasters Hall of Fame of Ohio. Phelps is a graduate of Kent State University. He resides in Medina, Ohio with his wife, Gayle, and their three children.

Campy Russell Director of Alumni Relations Campy Russell begins his 14th season providing analysis on the FOX Sports Ohio pregame and postgame show, “Cavaliers Live,” after spending three seasons as the team’s broadcast analyst on the WUAB TV 43 Cavaliers pregame and postgame show. He is also the Cavaliers’ Director of Alumni Relations, helping connect former Cavs players with the organization and fans. Because of his efforts, alumni are active in the community and at Cavaliers home games, where they visit with fans, make special presentations and are involved in charitable fundraising. Russell played 10 years in the NBA, including seven with the Cavs (1974-75 to 1979-80 and 1984-85), where he was an NBA All-Star in 1979. He played three seasons with the Knicks from 1980-83 and led the league in three- percentage (.439) in 1981-82. Russell was named to the Cavaliers’ All-Time Team and remains in the Cavs’ all-time Top 10 in six categories. He entered the 1974 NBA Draft as junior under the hardship clause and was the eighth pick of the first round. In 2002, Russell rejoined the Cavaliers as the team’s outer market events specialist, a position involving sales, community relations and youth basketball programs. In 2004, he championed the Cavaliers’ annual Black Heritage Celebration, one of the most comprehensive cultural celebrations in the NBA. He was inducted into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award by Black Professionals Association Charitable Foundation (BPACF) in 2019. Russell is an alumnus of the University of , graduating with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and communications in 2000, and is a member of the university’s Hall of Honor. He is the father of four daughters, Allex, Mandisa, Oyin, Saki and one son, Michael II, and is the proud grandfather of 12 grandchildren.

Tim Alcorn Tim Alcorn Radio Play-By-Play Broadcaster Tim Alcorn begins his second season as the Cavaliers radio play-by-play broadcaster on the Cavaliers Radio Network after originally being hired in September 2019. He conducts the Cavaliers broadcasts alongside Jim Chones, who is returning as the color analyst for his 11th season in the Cavaliers radio booth. Before joining the Cavaliers, Alcorn spent the previous 27 years at AM930 WEOL in Lorain/Elyria, where he was most recently the lead sports voice, sports director and station manager. He has been a sportscaster in the Northeast Ohio area since 1985, beginning his radio career at WOBL in Oberlin after graduating from Kent State University, and later joining AM930 WEOL in 1992. During his time at WEOL, Alcorn was the host of “Countdown at The Q” and “From the Dugout,” live on-site pregame shows before home Cavaliers and Indians games, respectively. He was additionally the play-by-play announcer for thousands of local high school football, basketball, baseball and games, and hosted multiple radio programs promoting high school athletics. Alcorn has previously filled in as the play-by-play announcer for Cleveland Gladiators games and as the pregame, halftime and postgame studio host for the Cavaliers Radio Network. Alcorn has been honored with several Hall of Fame inductions over his career, including the Lorain County Football Coaches Hall of Fame, the Lorain County Boys and Girls Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, the Elyria Area Umpires Hall of Fame and the Ohio High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Honor. He has also been a recipient of the Lorain County Athletic Administrators Citizenship Award and the OHSAA Northeast District Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity Award, and is a three-time winner of the Ohio Associated Press “Best Sports Broadcaster” award. He serves on both the Midview and Elyria Sports Hall of Fame committees and is an inductee of the “Make a Difference” Hall of Honor at his alma mater, Midview High School. Alcorn and his wife, Diane, are the proud parents of four children – daughters Kara and Alyssa, and sons Shawn and Ryan.

414 // CLEVELAND CAVALIERS Jim Chones Jim Chones Radio Color Analyst and Postgame Radio Analyst Jim Chones returns for his 11th season as the color analyst on the Cavaliers Radio Network, providing in-game commentary for all Cavs games as well as postgame analysis following all home games. Jim also appears every Wednesday morning at 8:25 a.m. on WTAM 1100 with Bill Wills and Mike Snyder for the Daily Cavs Update, and is very active in the community as part of the of the Cavaliers Legends program. Chones played with the Cavaliers for five seasons, including the “Miracle of Richfield” season in 1975-76 when he averaged a career-high 15.8 points per game while contributing 9.0 rebounds per contest. The former center is seventh on the list of all-time Cavaliers rebounders with 3,790 boards and is eighth with 2,750 defensive rebounds. In April 1991, Chones was chosen by Cavs fans as the center for the “Classic Cavs Team” covering the first 20 years of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ history. Before joining the Cavaliers for the 1974-75 season, Chones played for two years in the American Basketball Association for the New York Nets and the . He earned an NBA Championship ring with the in 1980 and after two years with the Lakers, he completed his NBA career with the Washington Bullets. Chones played three seasons with the Marquette Warriors before turning pro. He was a starter on the squad in the 1972 Pan American Games. Following his playing career, Chones spent 10 seasons as the color analyst for Cavaliers games on SportsChannel Ohio and the Cavs Television Network. He also served as a color analyst for college games on ESPN and for the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks on Fox Sports . Jim and his wife, Elores, who reside in Beachwood, are the parents of daughters Kareeda and Kaayla, and of triplet sons Kameron, Kyle and Kendall. His family is the only family in NCAA Division I history to have six family members play Division I sports.

Mike Snyder Radio Network Studio Host Mike Snyder returns as the Cavaliers Radio Network Studio Host for the 2020-21 Mike Snyder season, his 29th straight year in the position. Snyder begins each Cavaliers Radio Network broadcast with the 30-minute “Huntington Tip-Off Show,” a comprehensive look at what’s happening around the NBA, featuring interviews, game reports, injury updates and a preview of the Cavaliers game with Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff and radio play- by-play announcer Tim Alcorn. Following every game, Snyder also hosts the “Tito’s Nightcap Recap” postgame call-in show with Jim Chones and/or Brad Sellers. The call-in show features Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff’s postgame press conference, players’ comments from both locker rooms, as well as comments from fans all across the Cavaliers radio network. Snyder also serves as an occasional co-host of “Cavs HQ,” which airs on both Fox Sports Ohio and the Cavs Radio Network, Snyder is currently the Sports Director at WTAM 1100, where he is co-host of the Wills & Snyder show on mornings 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. He has also hosted pregame and postgame shows for the Cleveland Browns radio network. Throughout his career, Snyder has done play-by-play announcing for Browns preseason games, the University of Akron, Kent State, Cleveland State basketball, Cleveland Force soccer and Canton-Akron Indians baseball. Snyder was inducted into the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2000 and was named the 2014 recipient of the Excellence in Award by the Cleveland Association of Broadcasters. In 2018, he was inducted into the Press Club of Cleveland’s Hall of Fame. Snyder and his wife, Janice, reside in Lakewood and are the parents of three adult children.

415 // CLEVELAND CAVALIERS Brad Sellers Cavs Radio Studio Analyst Brad Sellers begins his 11th season as the Cavs Radio Network studio analyst. Brad Sellers Following all road games, he teams with host Mike Snyder on the Cavaliers Postgame Call-In Show to recap the game, offer commentary and answer questions from the fans. Sellers played six seasons in the NBA after being drafted by the Bulls as the ninth overall pick in the 1986 NBA Draft. He appeared in 398 NBA games and finished his career with averages of 6.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. After finishing his NBA career, Sellers played professionally in Spain and France before retiring in 2000. He is an alumni of The Ohio State University, where he played basketball for two seasons after transferring from the University of Wisconsin, where he also played for two years. A local high school product, Sellers is one of the most decorated athletes to play in the Area. He led Warrensville Heights to an 88-14 record during his high school career. Sellers is currently the mayor of the City of Warrensville Heights. He is the seventh mayor of the city and the first native resident of Warrensville Heights to be elected to the office. He was sworn in as mayor on January 1, 2012.

Rafael Hernández Brito Bilingual Radio Announcer, Cleveland Cavaliers Veteran broadcaster Rafael Hernández-Brito, known as Rafa “El Alcalde” (“The Mayor”), returns for his seventh season of bringing his high-energy play-by-play style to Rafael Hernández Brito each of his Cleveland Cavaliers broadcasts. Prior to joining the Cavs, Hernández-Brito was the Spanish voice of games for the franchise’s first two seasons. He also was the voice of the Nets from 1997 to 2001, and called the action for St. John’s University men’s basketball during that same period. In 2018, Rafa became the first Spanish voice of the Cleveland Browns. Nationally, his broadcasting experience includes eight years as the voice of NFL football for Spanish broadcasts of Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football, Monday Night Football, the playoffs and Superbowl on from 2005 to 2013. Hernández-Brito, who has worked 11 Super Bowls, was also the Spanish play-by-play voice of the Dolphins and has handled the play-by-play for , boxing and UFC. Rafa additionally covered the Soccer World Cups from 1998 to 2014. With the 2015 NBA Finals, he became the first broadcaster in the United States to call the Finals of all 3 major sports in Spanish. Rafa has been the Public Address Announcer and voice of legendary Azteca Stadium in Mexico City for NFL Mexico games since 2016. In March of 2017, he became the first broadcaster to call the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four in Spanish for . Rafa finished high school at Locust Valley, N.Y. He went on to earn a degree in mechanical engineering at University, followed by a successful run working for Coors Brewing Co., where his buoyant personality made him a natural in sales and marketing. Nonetheless, he chose to follow his passion for sports and broadcasting. Hernández-Brito served as sports director at Univision Radio from 2005 to 2013, where he was also the host/ ringleader of “Locura Deportiva”, Univision Radio’s most successful sports program, presiding over candid, colorful, often comical discussions on the topics of the day as “El Alcalde” (“The Mayor”). He was also the creator and longtime host of “El Garaje de AutoZone,” a Saturday morning automotive show perhaps best described as a Spanish-language version of the immensely popular NPR program “Car Talk.” Rafa’s path to the booth is an American dream. Today, he has a daily syndicated radio sports show airing in the US and Latin America, is the cohost of the Emmy-award winning show “Cavs HQ” on Fox Sports Ohio and also served as the executive producer of the popular “Road Trippin’ with RJ and Channing.”

416 // CLEVELAND CAVALIERS Scott Zurilla Scott Zurilla Senior Producer, Cavaliers Radio Network Canton Charge Play-By-Play Announcer Scott Zurilla serves as the Senior Producer of the Cavaliers Radio Network, a position he has had for the past 25 years, where he is responsible for overall game broadcast content which includes providing information, interviews and other support to studio host and play-by-play announcers. In addition to his Cavs responsibilities, Zurilla begins his 10th season as the Play-By- Play Announcer for the Canton Charge. Zurilla calls the live game broadcasts on 99-7 Canton’s New Country and NBAGLeague.com, as well as providing video content for CantonCharge.com and keeping Charge fans updated with inside information via his Twitter account @ZManCavs. From 1997 to 2003, Zurilla was the studio host for the Cleveland Rockers radio broadcasts. Prior to that, he served as the play-by-play announcer for the Time Warner high school game of the week in 1990, a job that he did until 2007.

Before joining the Cavaliers in 2003, Gabriele served as both newsdesk and team sites editor for the NBA in New York and New Jersey. Prior to working for the NBA, he was a managing editor at Professional Sports Publishing, also in New York. He has written for national and local publications such as HOOP Magazine and the Downtown Tab. 417 // CLEVELAND CAVALIERS B.J. Evans Director of Basketball Communications B.J. Evans B.J. Evans was named Director of Basketball Communications for the Cavaliers in June 2013. Evans leads the Basketball Communications Team in promoting on- and off-court endeavors of the Cavaliers’ organization, its players, coaches and basketball front office staff as well as facilitating the requests of the local, national and international media. Evans will also assist engagement with the Cavaliers Legends and alumni activities. Prior to becoming director of basketball communications, Evans spent nine seasons with the Charlotte Bobcats. He was most recently the team’s Vice President of Communications, where he oversaw the organization’s basketball and business publicity efforts and was the primary liaison between the team and the local, national and international media. He was also responsible for day-to-day media operations and coordinated press conferences and interviews for the team’s players, coaches and front office staff. Evans, who initially joined the Bobcats as Public Relations Manager in March 2004, was named Director of Media Services in May 2006 and took over the department, which was later changed to Basketball Communications, in December of that year. Prior to joining the Bobcats, Evans served as Assistant Director of Sports Media Relations with the and earlier was the Media Relations Manager for the former NBA D-League affiliate Asheville Altitude during the league’s inaugural season, managing all of the team’s media relations functions. Evans served as Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and served as an NCAA Committee Representative for the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament from 1999- 2001. Additionally, his experience includes stints as Sports Information Director and head of game operations at A&T State University and at the University of -Eastern Shore. During the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, he served as Tribune Manager at the inaugural beach volleyball venue. A graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, Evans earned his B.A. in Public Relations. He was most recently named Vice President of the Cleveland Alumni Chapter of the N.C A&T. He and his wife, Kyle, have one daughter, Bailey.

Jeff Schaefer Basketball Communications Senior Manager Jeff Schaefer was promoted to Cavaliers Basketball Communications Senior Manager in August of 2016 after spending the previous three seasons as the Basketball Communications Manager and the three before that as Basketball Communications Jeff Schaefer Coordinator. Schaefer assists in managing all areas of the Basketball Communications Team, including arranging interviews with players, coaches and front office personnel, writing press releases, editing media guides and managing the day-to-day operations of the department. He also helps oversee the Basketball Communications Team’s game-night staff and assists the Basketball Operations Team with statistical studies and projects. Prior to joining the Basketball Communications team, Schaefer spent one year with the Cavaliers organization as the Corporate Communications Coordinator. He started with the Cavs as the Basketball Communications Game Night Assistant in 2006 and then spent the next two seasons as the department’s seasonal assistant. A native of Elyria, Ohio, Schaefer attended the University of Toledo where he earned his B.A. degree in communications. He resides in Lakewood, Ohio with his wife, Kaylin and two kids.

418 // CLEVELAND CAVALIERS Cherome Owens Basketball Communications Manager Cherome Owens Cherome Owens was promoted to Basketball Communications Manager for the Cleveland Cavaliers in July 2018. He is primarily responsible for writing and editing game notes, press releases, overseeing media credentials and team publications, helping arrange interviews with players, coaches and front office personnel, overseeing the team’s media website, and managing team media coverage and archives. Owens was previously the department’s coordinator for three years (2015-2018) after spending two seasons with the team as the sports communications coordinator (2013-2015) and four seasons as a basketball communications seasonal assistant (2009-2013). Prior to joining the Cavaliers, Owens was the public relations intern for the Milwaukee Bucks during the 2008-09 season and Cleveland Indians in 2011. He received his first position in professional sports for the Bucks in 2003-04 as a team attendant. A native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Owens attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, graduating with honors in 2008 with a B.A. in print journalism and earning a minor in coaching. He lives in Middleburg Heights, Ohio with his fiancé, Erin, daughter, Flora, and his dog, Ziggy.

Alyssa Dombrowski Alyssa Dombrowski Basketball Communications Coordinator Alyssa Dombrowski enters her seventh season with the Cavaliers in 2020-21. She was promoted to Basketball Communications Coordinator in July 2018 after spending two years as Basketball Communications Assistant from 2016-18 and two years with the department as a Seasonal Assistant from 2014-16. She is primarily responsible for managing credential operations, facilitating media and internal requests for players and front office staff, writing press releases, media advisories and game notes, producing team publications, hiring and training the seasonal and game night assistant, managing the Cavaliers’ game night stat crew and maintaining the department’s official statistical Twitter account, @CavsNotes. She also helps develop the Cavaliers’ basketball operations overall communications strategy and promotes core basketball themes through earned media. Dombrowski previously interned with the Cavaliers in the summer of 2012. She additionally held public relations internships with Ohio State Athletics Communications and the Columbus Blue Jackets, and spent one season with the Cleveland Gladiators as a seasonal assistant. Her first full-time job in sports came in 2013, when she joined the front office as the coordinator of digital media and communications for one year before returning home to Cleveland. A native of Brecksville, Ohio, Dombrowski graduated summa cum laude from the honors college at The Ohio State University in 2012, where she earned a B.A. in strategic communication with a minor in Spanish. In her free time, Dombrowski enjoys reading, listening to music, exercising and spending time with friends and family.

419 // CLEVELAND CAVALIERS Tad Carper Executive Vice President / Chief Communications Officer After being named Vice President of Communications in April of 2003, Tad Carper was Tad Carper promoted to Senior Vice President/Communications for the Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena organization in August of 2006. Broadcasting was added to the communications group during the 2012-13 Cavaliers season. Carper was promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Communications Officer in September of 2017. In his position, Carper oversees organizational public relations, media engagement and communications elements, broadcasting and community relations for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse organization. In addition, Carper serves as a member of the organization’s executive leadership group working on the strategic business planning, positioning and operation of the franchise and affiliated teams and properties, as well as other special business projects and Family of Companies (FOC) initiatives and engagement. Prior to becoming Vice President of Communications, Carper was the Vice President of Marketing for the then Cavaliers/Gund Arena Company from early 2000 through the conclusion of the 2002-03 Cavaliers season. He led the re-branding process for the Cavaliers that involved the change in team colors, logos and uniforms (back to a “new expression of wine and gold”) that were launched at the final game of the 2002-03 season. For more than 30 years, Carper has held a variety of sports and entertainment industry sales, marketing, and communications positions. Immediately prior to joining the Cavaliers Operating Company, he was the vice president of sales and marketing for the Lansing (Michigan) Entertainment & Public Facilities Authority. Prior to that, Carper was a director for SMG, the organization that operates the Jacksonville (FL) Sports, Entertainment and Convention Facilities. He made key contributions to the successful renovation, grand opening and first two seasons of Jacksonville Municipal Stadium (home of the NFL’s Jaguars), as well as the renovation of the Times- Union Center for the Performing Arts and the Veterans’ Memorial Coliseum. Carper, 58, holds a Master of Science degree in Sport Management from the University of Richmond (), as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Shepherd University (West Virginia). He resides in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife, Ann. Tad and Ann have three children, Madison Howard (husband Joe), Clay, and Libby.

Phyllis Salem Senior Director, Corporate Communications Phyllis Salem Phyllis Salem begins her 33rd season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, which started at the in 1987 as director of arena public relations. Salem oversees the corporate communications team, which is responsible for the off-the-court informational communications and support for the Cavaliers and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, including marketing, community relations, event publicity, special projects and other organizational initiatives. Other areas of focus include internal communications, customer service and media relations. Over the past 32 years, Salem has been involved in many areas of the Cavaliers and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse’s growth to becoming one of the top NBA teams and sports and entertainment facilities in the country. Prior to her career with the Cavaliers, Salem spent seven years in Houston, Texas at KRIV-TV and then at CBS affiliate KHOU-TV as director of on-air promotion before returning to her hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Salem holds a Bachelor of Arts in public relations/ journalism and marketing from Kent State University.
