The Mayor and I believe that all children in New York City deserve the opportunity to attend a high quality pre- kindergarten program. Currently, the New York City Department of Education offers full-day and half-day pre-kindergarten options in public schools and community-based organizations across the City. The Mayor and a team of dedicated experts are working hard to create more full-day options in order to improve access to high quality programs for all families. I encourage you to apply for pre-kindergarten using the list of programs in this Directory. We expect to announce new full-day programs in April 2014. We will provide an opportunity for you to apply to the new programs before the school year begins. You can sign up for regular updates by texting “prek” to 877877 or visit www.nyc.gov/schools/subscribe. We invite you to attend an information session in March to learn more about pre-kindergarten programs and the application process. You can find a list of sessions on the inside front cover of this Directory. If you have any questions, please call (718) 935-2009. Best of luck to you and your child as you embark on the pre-kindergarten journey. If you live in New York City and your child is turning four years old in 2014, then your child is eligible to attend free Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) programs offered by the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE). This book provides details about how to submit an application for pre-kindergarten (pre-k) in September 2014, as well as the different program options available for the 2014-2015 school year. If you have any questions about Pre-Kindergarten Admissions, call 718-935-2009 or visit www.nyc.gov/schools/prek. We are excited to welcome your child to our schools and look forward to helping you along the way! Navigating Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) Admissions 1. Get to Know Pre-K Admissions Before you start exploring your pre-k program options, it’s important that you get to know how it works: Public School and Community-Based Organization (CBO) Pre-K Programs Pre-k programs are available at public schools and community-based organizations (CBOs); there are separate application processes for each. Public schools and CBOs offer a variety of program structures including full-day and half-day (morning or afternoon) programs. Families should consider both public school and CBO program options as they are applying to pre-k. See below for more information. Public School Pre-K Programs Community-Based Organization (CBO) See page 3 for details Pre-K Programs See page 78 for details x Apply between March 3 – April 1, 2014 x Apply online at x Ongoing application process www.nyc.gov/schools/prek x Contact CBO programs directly to apply or in person at an Enrollment Office x Admissions priorities vary by program; x Admission is not first-come, first served typically, first-come, first-served 2. Consider Your Child’s Needs Why Pre-K is Important Pre-k programs are important because they create a foundation for your child’s future success. Pre-k programs in New York City base their curriculum on New York State’s Pre-Kindergarten Foundation for the Common Core which is aligned to the kindergarten to grade 12 learning standards. In pre-k, your child will learn: pre-reading and basic math skills, creative thinking and problem solving skills, and social skills. To find out more about what your child will learn in pre-k, check out the Pre-K Learning Resources for Families on page 104 or visit www.nyc.gov/schools/earlychildhood. Services for Students with Disabilities All families interested in applying to pre-k, including families of students with disabilities, should apply to pre-k according to the public school and/or CBO application process. Some families may need to work with their local Committee on Special Education (CSE) or Committee on Pre-School Special Education

PAULSEN Chair December 17, 2002 ISSUED TO: Michael Duryea Brown Harris Stevens 770 Lexington Avenue New York, NY 10021 Re: PERMIT DENIAL LPC - 03-2863 CD 03-3829 730 PARK AVENUE HISTORIC DISTRICT UPPER EAST SIDE Borough of Manhattan Block/Lot: 1385/37 Pursuant to Section 25-307 of the Administrative Code of the City of New York, the Landmarks Preservation Commission, at the Public Meeting of December 17, 2002, following the Public Hearing of the same date, voted not to grant a Certificate of Appropriateness for the replacement of windows at the subject premises as put forward in your application completed on November 21, 2002. The proposal consists of replacing three one-over-one, double-hung windows at the 18th floor of the visible secondary west elevation with three single-pane, tilt-and-turn metal windows; and removing two multi-pane, double-hung windows at the 18th floor of the visible rear elevation(south), and enlarging the masonry openings to accommodate two single-pane, tilt-and-turn metal windows, as shown in drawings LPC-0, LPC-1, LPC-2, LPC-3, and photo-board 1, dated September 31, 2002, prepared by George Sweeney Architects, and presented at the Public Hearing and Public Meeting. In reviewing this proposal, the Commission noted that the Upper East Side Historic District Designation Report describes 730 Park Avenue as an apartment building designed by Lafayette A. Goldstone in 1928-1929 in the neo-Renaissance/neo-Jacobean style; and that the building's style, scale, and materials contribute to the special architectural and historic character of the Upper East Side Historic District.

  • Park Avenue Manhattan the Historic Districts Council Is New York’S Citywide Advocate for Historic Buildings and Neighborhoods
A Guide to Historic New York City Neighborhoods Park Avenue Manhattan The Historic Districts Council is New York’s citywide advocate for historic buildings and neighborhoods. The Six to Celebrate program annually identifies six historic New York City neighborhoods that merit preservation as priorities for HDC’s advocacy and consultation over a yearlong period. The six, chosen from applications submitted by community organizations, are selected on the basis of the architectural and historic merit of the area, the level of threat to the neighborhood, the strength and willingness of the local advocates, and the potential for HDC’s preservation support to be meaningful. HDC works with these neighborhood partners to set and reach preservation goals through strategic planning, advocacy, outreach, programs and publicity. The core belief of the Historic Districts Council is that preservation and enhancement of New York City’s historic resources—its neighborhoods, buildings, parks and public spaces— are central to the continued success of the city. The Historic Districts Council works to ensure the preservation of these resources and uphold the New York City Landmarks Law and to further the preservation ethic. This mission is accomplished through ongoing programs of assistance to more than 500 community and neighborhood groups and through public- policy initiatives, publications, educational outreach and sponsorship of community events. Support is provided in part by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.

Burgess, Secretary State of New York Department of Public Service 3 Empire State Plaza Albany, NY 12223 Re: Re: PETITION FOR REHEARING 17-S-0542 - In the Matter of the Rules and Regulations of the Public Service Commission, Contained in 16 NYCRR, in Relation to Complaint Procedures—Appeal by 36 East 72 Street Corp. of the Informal Decision Rendered in Favor of Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (649082). Dear Secretary Burgess: Subsequent to our filing for rehearing in the above referenced matter, Ms. Mary Krayeske, representing Con Edison, contacted my office and advised that in consumer complaint case 639886 URAC was informed that meter number 7825 was tested on September 9, 2015 and found to be registering slow at 94.87%. The filing in that case directly conflicts with a filing in consumer complaint case 549672, on which I relied, where Con Edison listed meters tested in bulk and testified that meter number 7825 was not tested. I have attached both the meter test report from case 639886 and the submission by Con Ed in 549672. After review of both consumer complaint files I have decided that the meter test report in case 639886 outweighs the submission by Con Edison in case 549672. As such, unless the Commission see’s any reason otherwise, I am withdrawing the Petition and the matter can be considered closed.
