 Recipient of Tamilnadu Young Women Scientist Award – 2002 in the discipline of ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY for the work on Environmental Management. The award was given by Science City, Government of .  Life Member in National Academy of Sciences India (LM2011).  DST has provided full financial assistance for attending the ASBPA's 2010 National Coastal Conference: "Celebrating the diversity of the coast" held from 12-15 October, 2010 at Charleston, South Carolina, USA.  Selected for Japanese Government Scholarship during 1991-1992 to do Ph.D. But not utilised as Ph.D. at IIT, Chennai was in the submission stage.  Second Rank holder in M.Tech. Remote Sensing, 1988.

SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS

 After assuming the position as Deputy Director, Centre for Research  A scholar-examiners database with their complete details was created and computerized.  A record number of 366 scholars were awarded Ph.D. degree by Anna University Chennai in the 29th Annual Convocation held in December 2008 and “all time high” 455 scholars were awarded Ph.D. degree by Anna University Chennai in the 30th Annual Convocation held in February 2010 in which my role is significant. This record could be possible through e-governance.  Co-ordinated to launch the Online checking of status of Ph.D. thesis processing in the University website and in-charge of its updation. This is the first of its kind in any University in India.  Involved in the preparation of Ph.D. and M.S. (By Research) Regulations 2010
