COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS SIGN FORWARD BOONE JENNER TO FOUR-YEAR CONTRACT THROUGH 2021-22 NHL SEASON

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The have signed restricted free agent forward Boone Jenner to a four-year contract through the 2021-22 season, club general manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Jenner, 25, has recorded 86 goals and 75 assists for 161 points with 225 minutes and a +1 plus/minus rating in 342 career regular season games and added 6-5-11 in 17 career Playoff contests with the Blue Jackets. The Dorchester, Ontario native has posted 30-plus points and 200-plus hits, while serving as an alternate , in each of the past three campaigns, and has won 52.5 percent in the faceoff circle during his career.

"Boone Jenner has been an important player for the Columbus Blue Jackets with his work ethic, character and leadership on and off the ice," said Kekalainen. "He is still a young player that is improving in all facets of the game and we couldn’t be happier that he will continue to be a key contributor to our team in the years to come."

Columbus’ second round pick, 37th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft, Jenner notched 13-19-32, 39 penalty minutes and was +1 in 75 games in 2017-18, tying his career high in assists and leading the club in hits (205, 20th in NHL). He had 18-16- 34, 52 penalty minutes and was a career-high +14 in 82 games in 2016-17 and set career highs with 30-19-49, 77 penalty minutes, 225 shots and a 13.3 shooting percentage in 82 contests in 2015-16. His 16 goals as a rookie in 2013-14 are the third-most by a first-year player in club history, trailing only Pierre-Luc Dubois (20, 2017-18) and Rick Nash (17, 2002-03).

The 6-2, 206-pound native of Dorchester, Ontario has represented Canada in international tournaments on several occasions. He helped the country capture gold at the 2016 IIHF World Championships with 2-2-4 in 10 contests. He also skated in the 2012 and 2013 IIHF World Junior Championships, earning bronze at the 2013 tournament. Prior to turning pro, he tallied 111-135-246, 265 penalty minutes and was +23 in 227 career appearances with the .
