Edgar, The Dreams of Sushi), Lincoln Lawyer) Joey Carey (Obvious Child), DURATION: Morgan White 1 x 100-minutes (Pod) Life is the road trip that no one wants to end. Except Ray. When Brian Gleason’s secretly ailing 82-year-old father-in-law Raymond announces he’s made arrangements to be euthanized in his home state of Oregon, his family is determined to stop him. Brian’s wife Kate believes this will chalk up to a bunch of dramatics, as her father Raymond isn’t eligible for Oregon’s ‘Death With Dignity’ act, allowing a terminally ill patient to legally take his mortality into his own hands. What they don’t know is that her father has a secret: He’s dying. Raymond recently got the startling medical news that he needs to have a second heart surgery, one that he’s not sure he would even live through. Instead of causing his family any more pain than he already has, he decides to take action. Kate will not have any of this discussion about travel to Oregon, and shuts him down. But when the determined old man continues with his plans, she has to throw in her hat to join the ride. When a family emergency arises, in the form of their teenage daughter taking self-incriminating cell phone pictures, Kate tasks her husband Brian with chauffeuring his father-in-law on the trip. Brian, shying away from dealing with his daughter’s budding sexuality, chooses the road trip. A trip that will change his life. On the road, Brian must convince the old man to forego pre-arranged death before they reach their final destination. They are joined by Estelle, Raymond’s younger wife, who proves to have a lot of life left in her. Brian is receptive to Estelle’s request to join the ride, simply because it’ll lessen his load from the old man. At home, Kate balances worries for her daughter and her father, which ultimately leads her to take action when she finds out her estranged brother and her own son have joined this harrowing road trip. The story becomes an intimate trek through the tribulations of Raymond’s life and serves as a wake- up call to Brian in his own journey as a man, father, and husband. Starring Golden Globe® and Oscar®-Nominee Frank Langella (Frost/ Nixon). “Langella delivers one of the great performances of his career” IndieWire
