The ability to provide a high level of services is important to the County and citizens alike. Access to high quality public education, health services, recreation services, and services for the aging has a direct impact on quality of life for local residents. The provision of these services is an important component of the comprehensive planning process, as land use and development decisions will have a direct impact on the demand for these services as well as the County’s ability to provide them. This report will focus on five major community services provided by the County and will identify some areas of need that may be addressed in Plan2040. The community services provided by the County include: Public Education, Library, Aging and Disabilities, Public Health and Recreation and Parks. Planning Framework Anne Arundel County’s 2009 General Development Plan (GDP) established several key goals applicable to community services.

SPRING 2021 Sponsored by: Mascot Media, NIAAA, Big Teams, Crown Trophy, Daktronics, Final Forms, Musco Lighting, Neff, Varsity Athletic, NFHS PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE What can I say about school year 2020 – 2021?!?! We made it with some bumps and bruises, but we made it! We had to get out of boxes on how to serve our student-athletes, but now our playbooks are ready for whatever! Over these past 12 months we have had to adapt to new restrictions and requirements, that felt like they were changing every other week but guess what – WE MADE IT!!! As we begin to wind down and reflect on this past year, please Dana Johnson, CAA give yourself some grace. Because of our dedication and continued willingness to give, some of our senior athletes were able to have some form of normalcy during their last year in high school. Those are memories that they will always have, and we were a major apart of it! Pat yourself on the back! Our first – and hopefully last – virtual MSADA Con- ference was spectacular. The presenters gave some valuable and timely information. From our “COVID and Athletics” roundtable to the “Unleash the Char- acter” workshop, the information presented are things we can use now and continue to build on for the next school year. I want to thank the Executive Officers – Carol Satterwhite, Tina Queen, Irwin “Stosh” Schtierman, Marianne Shultz and Jason Woodard for giving of their time, energy and brain power to put together this conference. Once again, thinking outside of our box! In addition, many thanks to our Final Form representative Julie Renner for guiding us through the aspects of a virtual conference.

Last season, our program began training in the remodeled Mary Roby Gymnastics Facility. The new training facility has improved what is already one of the top facilities in the nation, and will allow our current and future gymnasts to train at their best. Some of the features of our new facility include: • In-ground Palmer-Stratum spring floor exercise area with adjacent in-ground rod tumbling strip into resi-pit, and tumbling into both a resi-pit and a loose foam pit. • Three uneven bar stations, one equipped with official mats, one set over resi-pit, and a single rail over a loose foam pit. • Six balance beams, including a high beam over a raised platform. • Vault tables with vaulting into both a resi-pit and a loose foam pit. • Digital video motion analysis equipment. As evident in our facility additions, the Wildcat coaching staff and athletics administration are committed equally to academics and athletics. Our university president, Robert Shelton, along with athletics director Jim Livengood and the entire campus community are dedicated to developing the total person in each student who becomes a part of the Arizona family. The integrity of Arizona is very evident by the commitment of our administration.
