DAY 1: ARRIVE – KOTA KINABALU (-/-/D)

ARRIVAL FLIGHT TBA Upon arrival guests will be met by their driver and transferred to the hotel for check-in.

This evening, you will meet your local guide in the hotel foyer for a brief walking tour of Kota Kinabalu, finishing with dinner at the Filipino Night Market for a local dinner, a bustling and colorful market located by the (1 drinks included)

DAY 2: KINABALU PARK, PORING HOT SPRINGS & (B/L/-)

Depart early at 07:30 in the morning for a scenic journey into ’s rugged island interior. Travel along winding roads, passing paddy fields and local villages en route to the Poring Hot Springs.

Take a walk around this beautiful compound which takes its name from the giant that surrounds it. See Japanese-style outdoor hot tubs which are filled from natural hot springs believed to possess therapeutic effects.

Continue to nearby Kipungit to admire this spectacular natural wonder. Alternatively, opt for a trek to the canopy walk, a suspension bridge that soars 40-metres above the forest floor. For thrill seekers, this swaying, man-made bridge is an ideal place to enjoy views of the rainforest, tree canopies and distant rolling hills.

At midday break for lunch then continue to Sabah Tea Plantation, one of the last certified organic plantations in . Tour this vast farmland, learning about the process of growing and harvesting tea then stop at the plantation’s restaurant to enjoy sweeping views across the .

Resume the drive back to Kota Kinabalu, stopping at National Park. Take a guided walk and learn from a local naturalist about the vast array of flora found in this lush park. Admire views of Mt Kinabalu, Southeast Asia’s highest peak, in the distance before returning to Kota Kinabalu.

DAY 3: KOTA KINBALU – SANDAKAN (B/-/-)

After breakfast, day at leisure until your departure transfer to the airport for your onwards flight to Sandakan Suggested flight: AK6494 BKISDK 1320 1405 (Airfares NOT included)

Arrive at , followed by stop by at Sandakan Memorial Park. Adjacent to the site of the original Sandakan Prisoner of War (POW) Camp, the park commemorates the sacrifice and suffering endured by both Australian and British soldiers who were held as prisoners by the Japanese between 1942 and 1945 before transfer to your resort and check-in

Added Value – Sepilok Night Walk Orangutan Bedtime (Join-in) In the evening, an hour guided night walk to the Sepilok Forest Trails to experience walking the dark to spot animals or insects

DAY 4: FD SANDAKAN WILDLIFE (B/L/-)

After breakfast, at 0845hrs visit the world’s largest orangutan rehabilitation center at Sepilok. At the center, guests can witness the orangutans being fed by the rangers. Please note the feeding times are very popular, so expect crowds at the platforms. Stroll the jungle-flanked wooden walkways to the central platform; orangutans can sometimes be seen from these platforms, so guests should have their cameras ready!

Continue visit to the outstanding Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, where guests have the opportunity to observe these stunning animals. There are currently 36 bears housed at the center, which have been rescued from poachers. Guests also have the opportunity to adopt a bear to ensure the programs- and the animals - survival (at guests’ own expense)

After the tour, drive to Sandakan and drop off at English Tea House for your lunch before heading to Labuk Bay Sanctuary, one of the best place to encounter Borneo’s one and only . As we wait for the proboscis monkeys, other animals will also approach the feeding platform such as squirrels, silver leaf monkeys, and as well oriental pied hornbills. After feeding time, return to your hotel for rest of the day leisure.  Feeding time: (Platform A) 0930 / 1430 (Platform B) 1130 / 1630

Overnight in Sepilok

DAY 5: SEPILOK – KINABATANGAN RIVER (B/L/D)

After breakfast, day at leisure until your pick-up time at 1045hrs and transfer to Sandakan Yacht Club Jetty for a boat transfer to the Kinabatangan River. This two-hour boat journey passes by local villages and lush rainforest.

1300 Arrive at the lodge, check in and enjoy lunch. The Local guide will conduct a briefing on the upcoming activities and advice on recommended gear. Time in the afternoon to relax.

1630 Late in the afternoon, hop on a riverboat for a cruise up the Kinabatangan River in search for wildlife - most notably, the proboscis monkeys which is endemic to Borneo. Other fauna is likely to

be spotted in the Lower Kinabatangan Reserve includes elephants, hornbills, gibbons, and many birds.

Return to the lodge for dinner before mid-evening take a stroll along the boardwalk on a lookout for nocturnal animals and interesting insects.

Overnight in Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort

DAY 6: KINABATANGAN RIVER (B/L/D)

0600 Rise early in the morning along with the birds and other animals of the river for a cruise to Kelenanap , a crescent shaped lake that formed when the river’s meander became so wide that it cut itself off. The stillness of the lake and relative protection provides a haven for animals and plants making for an ecosystem that’s completely distinct from that of the river.

0830 Continue to visit the local fishing village, Kampung Abai. Interact with local , river people and observe daily activities in the fishing village.

1000 Return to the resort for breakfast and the rest of the day is at leisure before heading out in the late afternoon to watch the river activities of many primate species that become active during this time. The afternoon is a particularly advantageous time to spot wildlife and the light is perfect for photography.

1630 Set off for another afternoon cruise in search of the specials, river sceneries, village landscapes and more wildlife. In good weather, there is a possibility to see colonies which are found at certain parts of the river. Cruise back to KWR for dinner at the common area.

2030 After dinner, take a night river safari on a look out for target species.

DAY 7: KINABATANGAN RIVER – SANDAKAN – DEPARTURE (B/-/-)

0700 After breakfast a chance to explore the nature board walk around the lodge area. 1000 Check-out from hotel and return to Sandakan by boat. 1130 Arrival at Sandakan Jetty for onward journey.
