Barry County’s two half- cent sales taxes each produced $171,349, a drop of more than $6,800 from a year ago. That set the 2019 sums under last year’s pace by about $35,000. The separate sales tax that sup- ports Barry County’s 911 service produced $128,248.45, a drop of $5,339.19 from last August. That put the 2019 total down from last year’s pace by more than $22,600. NEWS BRIEFS Fun Run set for Sept. 21 The graduating class of 1995 from Cassville High School, along with family and friends of Tonya Bailey, are hosting a 5K/1M Fun Run on Sept. 21. Bailey was diagnosed with brain cancer mid spring of this year. She is seeking treatment through the Mayo Clinic. Bailey and her husband, John, have lived the majority of their lives in Barry County and have two teenage chil- dren. The funds raised from these events will assist the family in reducing the amount of financial burden this illness has incurred for Bailey and her family. A dona- tion breakfast will be held on Sept. 21 from 7-10 a.m. at the Family Life Center in Cassville. Biscuits, sausage, gravy, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee will be served. The run will begin at 8 a.m. at the Family Life Center. BENNY STANLEY Benny Dale Stanley, 69, of Ridgley, passed away Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at his home. He was born Aug. 3, 1950, in Ridgley, the son of Ben Walter and Willadean (Robbins) Stanley, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were one brother, Ballard Stanley and a step- son, Oscar Morales. Survivors include: five sons, Quinn Stanley of Stella, Scott Stanley of Monett, Dusty Stanley of Anderson, Ben Stanley of Cassville, and Kevin Stanley of Lawrence, Kan.; one daughter, Karri Berry of , Okla.; one sister, Gail Eastep of Rogers, Ark.; two step- sons, Hector Morales and Sergio Morales all of Agua Prieta, Mexico; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He received his educa- tion in Wheaton. Most of his life was spent in the Ridgley area except of eight years when he lived in Mexico. During the Vietnam War, he served three years in the U.S. Army.
