SALES NOTES Mission Accomplished! Back in 1988, we began the monumental task of issuing every recording by the Father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe. Nearly 20 years and five boxed sets later, we’ve finished. When we started, Monroe was still alive, and bluegrass was a minority-interest music. In the intervening years, Monroe has died, but bluegrass music has gone from strength to strength. The industry bible, 'Billboard' magazine, actually started a Bluegrass chart, and bluegrass/old time country music formed the soundtrack to one of the most successful movies of recent times, 'O Brother.' Our final Bill Monroe box captures the great man in the autumn of his years. -

NEW RELEASE for the Week of Feb. 26, 2021 PRIORITIES & HIGHLIGHTS >> Pre-Order Now!
NEW RELEASE for the week of Feb. 26, 2021 PRIORITIES & HIGHLIGHTS >> Pre-Order Now! CHAI "WINK" (SUB POP) SP1420 CASS/ LP/ CD May 21 street date. Since breaking out in 2018, CHAI have been associated with explosive joy. At the core of their music, CHAI have upheld a stated mission to deconstruct the standards of beauty and cuteness that can be so oppressive in Japan. Like all musicians, CHAI spent 2020 forced to rethink the fabric of their work and lives. But CHAI took this as an opportunity to shake up their process and bring their music somewhere thrillingly new. Having previously used their maximalist recordings to capture the exuberance of their live shows, with the audiences' reactions in mind, CHAI instead focused on crafting the slightly-subtler and more introspective kinds of songs they enjoy listening to at home. Their third full-length and first for Sub Pop, "WINK" contains CHAI's mellowest and most minimal music, and also their most affecting and exciting songwriting by far. CHAI draw R&B and hip-hop into their mix of dance-punk and pop-rock, all while remaining undeniably CHAI. DINOSAUR JR. "Sweep It Into Space" (JAGJAGUWAR) JAG366 LP/ CD DINOSAUR JR. "Sweep It Into Space (JAGJAGUWAR) JAG366LPC1 LP (translucent purple ripple)" April 23 street date. Here is "Sweep It Into Space", the fifth new studio album cut by Dinosaur Jr.. during the 13th year of their rebirth. Originally scheduled for issue in mid 2020, this record's temporal trajectory was thwarted by the coming of the Plague. But it would take more than a mere Plague to tamp down the exquisite fury of this trio when they are fully dialed-in. -

Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} John Duffey's Bluegrass Life Featuring the Country Gentlemen Seldom Scene and Washington D.C. by Ste John Duffey's Bluegrass Life: Featuring the Country Gentlemen Seldom Scene and Washington D.C. by Stephen Moore. JOHN DUFFEY’S. BLUEGRASS LIFE: FEATURING THE COUNTRY GENTLEMEN, SELDOM SCENE, AND WASHINGTON, D.C. By STEPHEN MOORE. and G.T. KEPLINGER. Foreword by TOM GRAY. John Duffey’s Bluegrass Life: Featuring The Country Gentlemen, Seldom Scene and Washington, DC i s the definitive biography of one of bluegrass music’s most important artists . Through his work as a founding member of two pioneering bands, John Duffey urbanized bluegrass and introduced it to a broad new audience. More than 50 rare or never-before-seen photographs—some by Carl Fleischhauer—and 82 contributors among John's fellow players, friends, and family help create a fascinating portrait of the complex, iconoclastic entertainer. The book’s narrative is supplemented with a 43-page Duffey Discography that provides track listings, recording dates, producers, composers, and musicians for every song recorded by Duffey . Washington Post: 7/30/19 : Remembering John Duffey Bluegrass Unlimited: 10/1/19 Review. John Duffey’s Bluegrass Life: Featuring the Country Gentlemen, Seldom Scene, and Washington DC. John Duffey is one of the biggest characters in the 70-year history of bluegrass music, larger than life; physically imposing with a voice that covers the whole range required for the four standard vocal parts, and a style of mandolin playing all his own. He even had a mandolin all his own; the hand-built wing-shaped “duck.” Stephen Moore and co-author G.T.
