2002 OHL PRIORITY SELECTION MEDIA GUIDE INTRODUCTION On May 5 2001, the Ontario Hockey League conducted the annual Priority Selection process by way of the Internet for the first time in league history. The league web site received record traffic for the single day event, topping 140,000 visitor sessions and 1.8 million page views. The 2002 OHL Priority Selection will once again be conducted online on Saturday May 4, 2002 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at www.ontariohockeyleague.com. This media guide has been prepared as a resource to all media covering the 2002 OHL Priority Selection. Selected Players in the OHL OHL Member Teams shall be eligible to dress and play for the entire 2002-2003 playing season their first two 16 year old players selected in the OHL Prioity Selection. Notwithstanding the above, any 16-year-old selected in one of the first two rounds of the OHL Priority Selection shall be eligible to dress and play for their OHL Member Team for the entire 2002-2003 season. All other 16-year-old players selected are eligible to be called up as an “affiliated player” for a maximum of five games from October 15, 2002 until the conclusion of the World Junior Hockey Championships in January 2003. 4 OHL PRIORITY SELECTION • MAY 4, 2002 Order of Selection The order of selection is determined by inverse order of finish during the past OHL regular season schedule of games with non-playoff teams selecting ahead of playoff teams. The following is the complete order of selection as of April 25, 2002. OHL Member Teams combine player data received from the Central Scouting Bureau with evaluations from their team scouting staffs to make their player selections. The OHL Central Scouting Bureau has been evaluating players since the 1975-76 season.
