Atlanta Braves Clippings Wednesday, June 3, 2015 Braves.com Braves rally, only to fall to D-backs on late HR By Barry M. Bloom and Jake Rill / MLB.com | 2:10 AM ET PHOENIX -- A.J. Pollock hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the seventh inning to lift the D-backs to a 7-6 win over the Braves on Tuesday night at Chase Field. Pollock's opposite-field blast came on a 1-0 pitch from Braves reliever Brandon Cunniff, landing in the swimming pool in right-center. It was the sixth homer of the year for the center fielder, who has hit safely in 12 of 14 games and batted .397 during that stretch. "I just got a pitch middle-away, I was trying to put it in the gap and watch Ender [Inciarte] run and hopefully get that run in," Pollock said. "Fortunate enough, it went over the fence." Braves starter Shelby Miller had his shortest outing of the year, lasting just 4 1/3 innings and giving up a season-high four runs on six hits and a season-high six walks. D-backs starter Josh Collmenter took his third straight no-decision, giving up three runs in 5 2/3 innings. "I just didn't get in the groove type thing, but those kinds of days happen," Miller said. "I mean, you're human. You look at Felix Hernandez's start [on Monday night in a Mariners' 7-1 loss to the Yankees] and other guys who are doing well have poor starts. -

Atlanta Braves Clippings Saturday, September 5, 2015 Braves.com Braves dealt 10-inning heartbreaker By Jacob Emert and Mark Bowman / MLB.com | 12:08 AM ET WASHINGTON -- Left out of the starting lineup with a sore right knee, Michael Taylor was called off the bench in the bottom of the 10th and made history, crushing a three-run walk-off home run to catapult the Nationals to a 5-2 win over Atlanta on Friday. The win moved the Nationals to within five games of the Mets, who lost, 6-5, in 11 innings to the Marlins on Friday night. "It was very exciting for me, just to be able to help the team," Taylor said of the first pinch-hit walk-off home run in team history. "I wasn't in there. I want to play. I was standing at the bat rack the whole game trying to get in the game. Just to be able to get in there and get a chance, I was happy for that." In the bottom of the ninth, with the Nationals trailing, 2-1, and down to their final out, Matt den Dekker extended the game with an RBI single off Atlanta's Arodys Vizcaino to force extra innings. "I was just trying to take a short stroke on it and not do too much," said den Dekker.. "A guy throwing that hard, you can't really get too big. You gotta stay short and stay through the middle and that's what I did." Nick Swisher singled home Freddie Freeman in the eighth inning to give the Braves a 2-1 edge. -

Atlanta Braves Clippings Tuesday, May 26, 2015 Braves.com Masset stung by Dodgers' homer spree in 8th By Mark Bowman and Steve Bourbon / MLB.com | 1:24 AM ET LOS ANGELES -- The Dodgers launched three home runs off reliever Nick Masset in the eighth inning to beat the Braves, 6-3, on Monday night at Dodger Stadium. Trailing, 2-1, at the seventh-inning stretch, Los Angeles tied the game on an Adrian Gonzalez groundout in the seventh and Andre Ethier gave the Dodgers the lead the following inning with a solo shot to right-center field. Alex Guerrero and Jimmy Rollins followed suit with homers. Dodgers starter Brett Anderson earned a no-decision, despite pitching seven innings and allowing two runs. The Dodgers got to Atlanta's bullpen, putting up five runs after starter Williams Perez left the game. In just his second career start, Perez also received a no-decision, pitching six innings, allowing one run and striking out seven. "I think just some of my pitches flattened out," Masset said. "I've had some good battles with these guys in the past. They put some good swings on it. That's just how the ball rolls sometimes." MOMENTS THAT MATTERED Injury scare for Anderson: The Dodgers had another injury scare on the mound as Anderson was evaluated by trainers in the fifth inning. He threw a wild pitch and appeared to tweak his back, but stayed in the game after throwing three warmup pitches. The Dodgers have already lost two members of their Opening Day rotation to season-ending injuries. -
