He hit the sand, then bounded out the back of the pit and sprinted down the tarmac. After he saw his mark, he then sprinted the other way in elation. His final jump eclipsed Luvo Manyonga of South Africa by half an inch or one centimeter. Manyonga had jumped 8.37 meters before Hen- derson's jump. Olympic, World, European and Commonwealth champion, Greg Rutherford is Great Britain’s most decorated long jumper and one of the country’s most successful Olympic athletes. After a successful junior career, Greg won gold at the London 2012 Olympics - changing his life forever and playing his part in the most successful night of British olympic sport in history. This iconic victory began a winning streak of gold medals; at the 2014 European Championships, 2014 Commonwealth Games and the 2015 World Championships. In 2015, Greg topped the long jump ranking in the IAAF Diamond League, the athletics equivalent of the Champions League. At the end of his 2015 season, he held every available elite outdoor title. In 2016 at the Rio Olympic’s, Greg backed up his 2012 Olympic success with a further Olympic medal - he also found himself on the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom floor shortly after! Greg is the British record holder, both indoors and outdoors, with bests of 8.26m (indoors) and 8.51m (outdoors). These sporting successes place Greg among the ranks of the British supreme athletics performers - simultaneously holding 4 major outdoors titles - he sits alongside legends such as, Linford Christie, Sally Gunnell, Johnathan Edwards & Daley Thompson. Greg’s route to the top was anything but smooth. From humble and often difficult beginnings, Greg rebelled during his teenage years and ended up dropping out of school, telling his teachers he was going to be a professional sportsman, no matter what - despite having no job, no money and little more than a firm belief in his own raw talent.

From 16th to 18th August 2017 For this amazing athletics meeting, due to take place at an altitude of over 3000 m, Tignes is proud to confirm the participation of the double Olympic Triple Jump Champion, Christian Taylor. Author of the 3rd best performance of all time in May in Eugene, the American, who has already jumped 18,11 m this year, aims to better the world record at the foot of the Grande Motte glacier. Here, he will compete against his compatriot and challenger, Will Claye. Will the World Record of 18, 29 m, held by the British athlete Jonathan Edwards, withstand the ardour of Taylor and Claye? Christian Taylor, second best global performer of all time ( 18,21 m in the final of the World Championships on 27th August 2015 in Beijing), has confirmed his presence at the highest athletics meeting on the planet. Making a promising start to the 2017 season (18,11 m in Eugene last May), the American will attempt to better the World Record of 18,29 m, held since 1995 by Jonathan Edwards. He will compete against his compatriot, Will Claye, also on the podium in Rio. With a record 17.91 m in 2017, this young athlete literally pushed Christian Taylor into a corner during the meeting in Paris, with a jump of 17.18 m. An intense duel that announces an exciting meeting, only a few days after the World Championships in London.
